1991 honda civic HB/B18A1

i just got a B18A1 put in my 91 hatchback but im getting ready to pull it back out so i can put some new pistons and rods in it. the rods will give it and 8.8:1 compression ratio. i have an intake, full exaust, and a header + two cam gears in the mail. what do you think i will be runnin in the 1/4 mile.

Re: 1991 honda civic HB/B18A1

Very shitty times with 8.8:1 compression stock is 9.2:1 why are you going to 8.8:1? If you are tring to build a N/A motor then you need new pistons. Also what are you talking about the new rods will give you 8.8:1 c/r? Are they custom, shorter than stock?

Re: 1991 honda civic HB/B18A1

My bad it was just a typo i ment to say pistons not rods. but i could have swore the lower the compression the faster your car will go. but either way what do you think i would run with new stock pistons then.

Re: 1991 honda civic HB/B18A1

New pistons will do absolutly nothing for performance if they are stock c/r. What are you tring to accomplish? N/A build Turbo Supercharger Nitrous what? That will determine what you need to do.

Re: 1991 honda civic HB/B18A1

Nitrous, i dont want a turbo or supercharger. i want to keep my car naturally asperated. but i think im just gonna put a B16A1 head on the B18A1 block and put B18C5 10.3:1 ratio piston and rings in it, and a B16A1 tranny on it.
