Hi, we are considering purchasing a 1998 Jimmy SLT but have been reading about possible problems with Dexcool. Is this a problem in Canada and as well as the U.S.? Have there been any statistics reported of what percentage of vehicles could be affected by this problem? We have a '93 Grand Am with overheating problems that we are unable to correct - not sure if we want to tackle another vehicle with the same issues. Thanks.

Re: Dexcool problems
I have an SLT 1998 Jimmy. I recently changed to Havoline anti-freeze after having to reverse flush the heater core. I think changing the "150,000 mile, 5 year" anti-freeze every 2 years is the right thing to do.

Re: Dexcool problems
I agree with stevensonp, flush the old stuff out and do the two year flush with normal good quality antifreeze,(Aluminum compatible) forget the Dexcool garbage, and yes, the trucks in Canada got it too, mine is from Ontario and now lives in B.C. and has been flushed twice, 1997 ext cab 5.0 with 300,000k !!
