What to do with the guts of a Tamiya NSX-R? No body

I bought a Tamiya NSX-R the other day from ebay... however when I got it, the body was shoddily painted a silver colour, with no primer, and one of the A pillars is cracked. I did get a full refund though and get to keep the kit

I was thinking I could either get a regular NSX, and transfer the Type R specific bits over to it (don't think there's many though). Or perhaps try and save the body? Or something more adventureous, like putting the engine and things into the back of a civic hatch, and turning it into a drag car?

Any ideas?

and that's why you shouldnt buy models from eBay. only a certain few people send models by airmail on eBay.

BTW...a mid-engined drag civic would be nice.

I buy models from ebay, not had any problems.

Anyway, have you tried stripping the paint off the bodyshell?

I got a refund so effectively the kit was free.

I'll try stripping the body work, but I don't even know what type of paint has been used, but I'll try anyway. The temptation of a V6 civic is strong though

i think just build it with no body and put in a roll bar, and justshow it like that!

Yeah, transplanting the engine into another curbside kit would be cool.

Or if you're a diorama builder, you can stick it on an engine lift and make it part of a diorama.

Or, get another NSX kit and do something like the Pike's Peak Escudo or Mosler TwinStar, build a twin V6-engined NSX. That'd be cool.

I buy models off ebay, but only from people in the US or Canada. Have had no problems.

Or use the Tamiya chassis w/ the engine in the new Fujimi NSX-R kit.

My prefferd option is to strip and fix the body. I went on a kit spending spree recently, so I have a civic, an integra, and a sileighty/onevia to make first. I'm new to modelling, so it's all a learning experience to me.

That's not always the case.

In all my experience with Ebay Nothing bad has ever happened to me.
But yes people like sanxler can do worse than this.

Sometimes when I have an item like that I just put it away in my parts drawer. Then when I have an idea for something new out comes the part drawer and I start rumaging. I bet you could do some really cool stuff with that so don't be in a big hurry to use it up, it is free after all.

On second thought mybe thats why my closet and garage are full of parts.

I've been thinking about putting th V-6 in the back of a Civic, too, but the engine I had was for the JGTC NSX, so I decided it would be overkill and never did it. It would awesome, though, like the Renault Clio V-6 (which I think they are going to make and sell?). But then, it may be worth stripping. Depends on how bad it is. If the A-piller is just snapped, you can built the car and not worry about it, like I did. See? Can't even tell. If it's totally gone and broke up, maybe you could use some strip styrene and save it?

And eBay has never given me any problems buying kits.

The Clio V6 has been on sale for a couple of years now, it recently got a face lift


The A pillar is snapped half way up, in one place only. It looks fixable, but the paint is so horrible I don't even like to look at it.
