For those who haven't seen it, here's Ertl's new '72 Chevy Vega.

I'm thinking about getting a second one and converting it to a '74 GT, one of which we had from '76 to around '83. The most work would involve the construction of an entirely new front end, finding or scratchbuilding proper GT wheels, and converting the taillight panel to '74 style. Also, the side mirrors would have to be borrowed from a 70's GM car, GT emblems would have to be found or made, and lower body trim would have to be added as well. The basic interior, engine, and body shell wouldn't need much work to make them presentable, but the aforementioned items would be pretty difficult. Our car was painted in a dark coppery brown color called Firemist Bronze, if I recall correctly. It had a black vinyl interior with a four speed, buckets and a tach, and the four spoke rally steering wheel, which I would also have to swipe from another diecast car or possibly convert from the car's stock wheel. Anyone like Vega's? I'd appreciate any help or suggestions in making my idea sound more feasible. Thanks for looking!
