1995 Econoline dies randomly on hot days

Today I had to tow my sister's church van off the highway as it had died 20 miles from anywhere. She said that it had started cutting out and then finally died and she thought it was the fuel filter. I replaced that on the side of the highway and it changed nothing.

The van would start, sometimes, and run good for a few seconds and then start cutting out and finally die. (105 degrees outside) The same van did the same thing 2 years ago on the exact same day, also 105 degrees outside, and after a few hours started and ran fine for 2 years. The shop could find nothing wrong at that time. After towing it home today I went out to try to figure it out and it started and ran like new with no signs of a problem. Much cooler outside though and it had sat for quite some time.

When the filter was removed there appeared to be plenty of pressure but I didn't have a way to test that pressure.

Any ideas? I'm questioning if it would be a heat related issue. There were never any codes popping up so that isn't going to help. If anyone has a clue of things to check, please let me know. I have it for 5 days and if I have time I'd like to be able to resolve this so it doesn't happen again.
