I have a red top Optima, and yeah it was bigger than the stock bat, mine would never fit under the hood.

Anyways, ran the 2AWG wire to a Phoenix Gold 100 Amp circuit breaker, and then up to the engine bay into a Phoenix Gold 2AWG distribution block (2AWG input and 4AWG outputs). Then out the other side to the starter, and from the starter to the alternator so that the entire power circuit was running on 2AWG wire... Except for the ECU fuse wich I used 10AWG wire from the distribution block... here's some pics: Also, the cool thing is that if you run 2AWG, under the door sill on the passenger side, there are clips to hold the wire already there waiting to be used... Battery and circuit breaker... The ground-wire I just bolted to the spare-tire mount: ![]() A picture of the distribution block mounted in the engine bay: ![]() Here you can kinda see the wiring going to the starter and then off to the alternator: ![]() When I install my stereo system, I'm going to put another one of the distribution blocks back by the back-seat area to power the amps, will look really nice.
