Re: SERIOUSLY OT: Calling all chicks! IT'S PART 6!!

Seems like my head gasket leak is getting worse. I've known I had a leak for more than a year, but I've just been ignoring it and adding coolant regularly.
I've never overheated the car, so I kept wondering why/where it was leaking. Think I finally got a clue yesterday.
When I had the radiator open topping it off, there was a grey residue around the filler cap and in the overflow bottle. Seems like it might be aluminum... might have been having an electrolysis problem this whole time.

I probably would have changed my coolant more regularly, but I'd always thought I was going to swap the engine out at some point, and just never have made or had the time or set aside the money. Now I'm debating about what to do.

I researched the entire internet, they all recommend putting an LS in it.

I'm actually looking into K20A3's right now, which seem like they're priced as throw-away engines at importers.
The only part I can't do myself is building mounts. Which I actually could, but doesn't save time nor money to do that part myself.
I think I can do the whole swap for under 2k. Maybe slightly more than 2k with upgraded clutch and flywheel.

Even a K20A3 would stomp a GSR or B18C5.

B series is still cheaper dollar for dollar than a K series.

Yeah, And it's a much more direct, straight forward swap. Given the choice though... I'd rather put a K20 in.

Yeah, I want a K swap, but I'd rather buy a car that already has it done. That upfront cost to swap it in makes that a better option.

Well, I can get K20A3 engine and transmission for about 800, then mounts are about 400. I've got an ECU, some K exhaust stuff, and wiring is pretty simple. Trying to decide on axles, and cooling... and whether I want to re-install power steering or not. Manual rack was fine when I was 20, but less appealing at 40.

Bleh, ran my compressor for like 20 minutes straight... now its a lot louder and takes about twice as long to go from 90 to 120psi lol. I wonder if I could buy a new one and return the thermal meltdown back to home depot...
