thanks, i'm looking into them now.

i don't want tools that might break. i remember when my friend broke a thin-wall impact socket when trying to remove a stuck drive hub bolt on a tipper truck, he was using a 36" ratchet and suddenly the socket just broke. don't want that happening.

i aslo noticed that Craftsman don't make any 3/4" drive tools.

Re: Banter Thread Part 3 (Back with a Vengeance, this time its personal)

ok, i looked at the Mac website, but it's painfully slow so i gave up.

i looked at Matco, and they look good, but i can't afford them. i think i'll buy the Kamasa and Teng tools now, and if need be i'll buy a craftsman set when i move. but i think these should be fine for now.

head studs use hex bits, don't they?

i'll look into either a 3/8" or 1/2" drive set of hex bits too.

Alot of studs for heads/intake&exhaust manifolds use hex heads. Might also want to look into buying a block/head plug socket set too. I know I needed to pick up some of those when I needed to remove some plugs from my LT1 heads and it was a 5/16th. So 1/4 spun and 3/8's was too big.

like spark plug sockets? explain.

i'm going to get a pair of spark plug sockets, which are 16mm & 21mm. using a 1/2" drive. and i'm going to get a set of oil pan/sump plug keys. 5-piece set, double-ended.

Oil up the wheel stud and they pull right through with a breaker bar.

Took until last night to remember I had a linelock and could just set that and pull them through.

Almost took off the hub....

I do stuff like that all the time. I start off this project with this big long drawn out way of doing things and then think of the easy way I missed . Kinda makes me want to bust the breaker bar over my head.

Gm cars use those plugs alot. To block coolant/oil/tranny/rear end passages. Sometimes its just a standard plug like 3/8's which is used on GM rears but alot of times on heads and blocks they are a unusual size.

do you mean breaker bar like crowbar/prybar or breaker bar like a 1/2" drive without a ratchet?

i'm looking for a 1/2" drive breaker bar, and i'm getting a 3/4" heavy-duty ratchet and making a 680mm (26") handle for it.
