Fujimi 1988 Honda Prelude
Hey guys, after being inspired by the modelling skills on this forum i decided to finally have a go at this fujimi prelude model that i've had stashed away for years. This is my 2nd model i'm attempting to complete after having a good 7 years break from building any models.
I'm hoping to make this model look like my 1:1 prelude, not sure what wheels to go with yet as it seems no manufacturer makes 1/24 work xd9's? the 1:1 ![]() the fujimi model has the shape of the car down pretty good, but the chassis is for a rwd car, the front bumper doesnt have the bottom lip, and the parts fitment is quite bad . i did a test fit to see how the box standard car stands, horrible stance OOB ![]() so i decided to drop it on its ass, basically just turned the front knuckles upside down and chopped the rear suspension in half 0.o this is lower then the 1:1, i played with this for ages but could not get the same relationship between wheels and guards, without giving the car huge ground clearance. so ill just have to do with tucked rims to get the height right. ![]() also made a front lip out of some plastic since it came with nothing and had way too much ground clearance even after the drop. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Fujimi 1988 Honda Prelude
sorry for the shallow depth of field. didnt want to pull the tripod out.
some primer and a another test fit, having some issues where the bonnet meets the front bumper, there should be a thin gap here but the fit of the fujimi parts is terrible, the mating surface is where the gap should be! think i gotta pull it off and try again because the glue is really ugly in that gap. ![]() also filled the back of the seats with tamiya putty and sanded it smooth as the fujimi seats had hollow backs on them ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() the bike was my 1st model after 7 years break lol hope the car turns out as good. ![]() |

Most likely a S13 chassis. Fujimi was lazy like that back in the day.

Re: Fujimi 1988 Honda Prelude
some progress, i pulled off the front bumper again, and made some little plastic mounting lugs and reattached it so that i get a gap between bonnet and front bumper. problem is that the chassis is a tight fit and has to be flexed to fit into the bodyshell, so i've strengthened the front end with alot of putty.
![]() primered, ready for painting ![]() and been working on the interior, fujimi actually did a really good job of the prelude interior, lots of separate peices and very accurate details. the front seats will be painted red. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Fujimi 1988 Honda Prelude
That interior looks good, at least from the distance. And the ride drop gives it a good street racer look.
Is that the Fujimi 03336 kit?

Re: Fujimi 1988 Honda Prelude
cheers mate! its model number 03712, comes with an optional aftermarket front bar and a strange double wing.
did some more work on the interior, this is my first time to try flocking, its not as uniform as i would like but i think it looks better. ![]() ![]() ![]() front seats still in their primer state, have to buy some red paint for them ![]() and also laid down the white, my efforts to get the gap between the bonnet and front bar were in vain!! the paint filled the gap in so easily ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Fujimi 1988 Honda Prelude
One can clearly see what a good set of rims, ride lowering and a simple wing can do. Sometimes that´s all you need. You´re making me want to build something like this.
Keep it up.
