actually i have seen one sat in one and driven it also, i know its not believable but i did, my boss owned one it was the accapulco blue with white stripes, it had 38,492 miles all original, he bought it from someone in texas like 10 yrs ago, god i loved that car, just listening to it was awesome, if i had a scanner i'd show the pictures i have, of the interior, the teak wood steering wheel, and the 428, and the ass end, and its a fine ass. the more original the better, thats why with my nova i'm keepin it pretty well stock. except the headers and the rest of the exhaust.

Re: Gotta be at least one?

Check out the Shelby Mustangs at CarMemories.com. You'll find a large number of pics of owners cars in the Shelby section. There is also lots of information on the cars.

Eleanor was not a real Shelby Mustang!

Re: Gotta be at least one?

Owned two of them. First was a 1967 G.T. 500, Midnight blue, 428 dual quads, headers, 4 speed.
Brother came home on leave, blew up the 428. After I got out of the service, bought a 427 for it. Picked up one of the last Sidewinder intakes from Muscleparts.
Car is still in my brother's garage, last time I checked.
The other one, 1967 G.T. 500 (someone painted it British racing green) came with a 351 W for power. Put a built 351 C in it. Not to worry, I rolled that car one night, seems the 67 handles alitte different without a big block.

seen both the real thing and the replicas of the GT350, seen one real GT 500. I would rather had the GT350 w/ the factory supercharger than the 500 after seeing that car up close in a show.

The "mustang" from gone in 50 seconds was not anything close to a real shelby, it was a modified fastback with a shelby paint scheme and some body mods. However, it is now, after the movie came out, a real shelby. it's authorized by carol shelby and is running under the badges of a GT500E and a GT500SS, the E being a replica of Eleanor, and a performance version of Eleanor and the SS being a supercharged 427 called the Super Snake.

Classic Car.com article on the GT500E and GT500SS

Re: Gotta be at least one?

the one they wrecked had to have been one
or it could have been like a random car with the exact bodykit.
