The Pete 377 in the 1997 Movie 'Breakdown': One of Peterbilt's least Popular Tractors?
Some background: I first caught this Kurt Russell sleeper on cable TV a couple years after its 1997 release. Years later, I bought it on DVD, and it's like watching for the first time every time I play it! As for the subject vehicle, a late 1980s Peterbilt model 377 tractor driven by the late J.T. Walsh, I personally have never seen any on the highways around where I live. The front fender/ headlamp flares seemed quite 'aero' for its day, but then along came the 379, a less sleek throwback paying homage to Peterbilts from the 1970s and before. |
