Paint a DeLorean
Hello all
I'm new here and very stunned to see that some people think it's OK to paint a DeLorean... For me it's the death of the car . The cars character above all is about the stainles steel and the gull wings IMHO. I live in sweden and we have about 50-60 DeLoreans here but about a half of them is not in traffic. Just to "look at" at some carshops and so on. There is also some difficulties to take them in her and have them into traffic. If you look at my profile I have one. As of today that is not really the truth. BUT i'm very near. you know the bank and the money... I'll be bacxk in two weeks to tell you... The price here in sweden for the car I'm about to buy is 20.300$ The car is in very good driving shape but not for extensive exhibitions at meetings. 36000 miles and everything in the original shape. VIN #1598 (with the old hood and the gas lid) Please respond with comments. // Radioman |

I think they look better painted - never liked silver cars anyway - plus that stainless steel must be hard to keep bright and shinny esp if you live in a city with all that pollution corroding it.
No - that yellow colour (or any bright colour) makes it look like the supercar it is. |

Re: Re: I saw one recently . . .
They look good either way. Ideally, I'd own three DeLoreans... one painted black, one brushed stainless and one polished stainless.

If you are going to start a good DeLorean collection though don't forget about one of the Gold cars - can't beat a 24-k gold plated DeLorean!

Sorry I didn't read all the posts. just the first and last page. so it may have been mentioned but if not.... some of the painted deloreans have been in accidents and the owner couldn't afford new panels. since body filler was used, the car got painted. for example a flawless left fender for a DeLorean is a couple of thousand. There was an error when they were making them and not as many were produced. most of the body panels aren't easy to come by anyways. those are not something that have been reproduced since the original body dies were destroyed.
