i need help with my first lowering job, the new beetle

this is gonna be the first car i actually lower, and i was wondering if you guys could provide any detailed advice? or maybe even a tutorial? i chose the beetle to be the first car i lower because the suspension looks rather simple. i had a few ideas of how to lower it but after some more carefule thought i found that my ideas were full of holes. so i would really appreciate some help. im looking to lower the car a little less than the pmans beetle, but i still want a small part of the tire to be hidden in the fender. please help anyone, im clueless

here are some pictures for anyone who wants to try and help me

thanks laubak, did you just mount the disks higher up on the suspension instead of shortening the suspension? doing it that way would save me plenty of head aches. as for the beetle i havent even put a drop of pain on any of the parts im just taking them off the tree and sanding away the mold lines right now. im just trying to figure wat i want done and how im gonna do it. but ill post pics of my progress ones i actually start

You will need to cut bits out of the struts and glue them back together.
Then where the link arms etc attach to the chassis you will need to trim down the mounting blocks so it sits lower onto the shorther struts.
Takes awhile to get right.
