Angry really BAD Idle w/ the 88 si

i have a 88 si, non 4ws. Heres a little history to try to help some of you w/ the diagnosis of this earitating problem. my friend got the car from his uncle, and only one cylinder had compression, come to find out, as his uncle was goin down the highway, the timing belt snapped and bent 6 of the 16 valves, so we just decided to replace the head, after that ordeal we have this beast, first it was idleing at about 3g and we had takin the 2nd set of manifold flaps out of the intake manifold, so we replaced them, after that, when u turn on the car, it goes like full throttle. i narrowed the problem down to 3 things, either the electronic air control valve is bad, or the high idle valve is bad, then theres the ecu test i did, and it came out to be the "egr" system, and i forgot that the egr tube was broke off, i didnt think that that little tube would be the cause of this full throttle idle, so i checked all the vaccum hoses, all good, rebuilt the distributor, intake manifold, and cleaned all associated parts, but still the same problem, well i ordered a new EGR tube, and im going to see how that works, what ever u can suggest will help,

Thanks,
