The latest issue of Classic & Sports Car has an ad for a british racing green with beige leather with zero (0) kilometers on the clock! So apparently there are still brand new ones. If you can call a 12 year old car brand new... Yours for 125000 UKPounds.

Re: Anyone own one?
I had a Silver XJ220 (no: 398) for about 18 months and covered 1000 glorious miles. I sold it in 2002 for £84,000 after having paid £119,000! Not very good econimical sense. It was a very impractical car to own. Noisy, poor visibility, dreadful to tackle in London (only did it once), brakes were poor. It's cornering however was simply amazing, like being bolted to rails. Speed and acceleration - well more than any normal driver could coope with.
Be very, very wary of cars that have little or no mileage. The fuel tanks are the biggest liability and other parts suffer too when the car is stored as a museum piece. You can end up with a very hefty bill, as Bonhams found out when they sold one at auction in Geneva about two years ago (2002) that had come out of long term storage. |

I'm an owner
I am the owner of an XJ220, I used to own a race XJ220 that competed in a few UK series and after I sold it Winn Percy set a track record at Brands Hatch in her (record for a classic lapping) There was a brief TV appearance on a series of the New Avengers, it had the most amazing paint job, took an artist 3 weeks with an air brush and a lot of misery and expence on my part but the result was a jaw dropper, people either loved it or hated it and thought it was sacriledge, it was based on the Alien in the film predator and the whole car was covered, if any one is interested I can post a photo. It was done as a publicity stunt as I was trying to get sponsorship, it didn't work. I sold it and got a road version with one of the few Carbon bodies available, that meant the speed was increased (never proven) by 10 MPH because of the weight saving. I am trying to sell it for £105,000 but as yet no takers. It is the most beutiful car to look at, but the standard brakes are appauling, it would stop quiker if there was a hole in the floor so you could put your foot on the tarmac, I upgraded the brakes to Brembo 4 pot calipers. It now stops :-). I can tell you all it is a great conversation piece at the dinner table as so few people have seen one in the metral flesh. It is the only baggage I still have from a reasonably wealthy past. AHHH the good old days.

Yeah, my dad has one. We're from England, he bought it about 4 years ago. Bought it in silver, then promptly resprayed it Black cos he prefers the colour! It's an absolutely beautiful car, and although it does have poor visability or whatever, it's so stunning, and even though everyone says it's impracticle....my dad often goes shopping in it, - returning home with the weekly food shop in the front passenger seat!
He let me drive it on the day he got it - I was so scared (i was 16 then!) that i stalled it straight away, then drove it at 10mph down the road!! He's got it up to 200mph though - think even he was petrified at that point! |

Re: Anyone own one?
I agree, the XJ220 is one of the best looking jags ever made. I don't care there is only a v6 insite, if you put this car next to other masterpieces they just seem to vannish. I've seen two of those ones on a Jaquar day on a racetrack. I remember shooting 30 pictures of them knowing there where only a few in my country and most likely stored in an airconditioned garage. In my opinion it's amazing this car was designed in the 90's and still looks like its from the future.

I was in Southern LA (Orange County) in November of 03' (that was the day i rode in a Ferrari 360 Modena F1!). And I went to 3 exotic dealerships, a Lotus one, Ferrari Maserati of Southern Caliornia, and an exotic/luxury dealership. That was the one where I saw a British Racing Green XJ220. I don't know how much it was, but I guess if you have to ask, you can't afford it. There were Porsches, an F40, a Diablo VT, Rolls Royce's, Bentley's, etc. It was pretty cool. But a V6?!?
