P 51 D Mustang - one from ICM and one from Tamiya
Hi again,
I show you my favorit plane and modell - the P 51 D Mustang. I build two Mustang's this year from diferent Kit Producers. Both are 1/48 scale. The first i did is ICM's P 51 D Mustang. Now the kit ist 100% Tamiya copy but the quality of the plastic and molds is not as good as Tamiya. But it was very interesting to see that the ICM version is a bit detailed at some parts. For the cockpit i used again Eduard's P 51 D Photoetch parts. This parts make the interior very nice and realistic in my opinien. Filling, sanding, rescribing was needed, but i was surprised to see that the result turned out very well! The kit was primed (again, grey and white) . Colors i used are Tamyia AS 12 Bare metal silver sprayed with my airbrush. Yellow is automotive paint (2K!) very good! Antiglare panel is painted with Tamyia Oliv Drab acrilics. Interior and wheel bay painted with Gunze Interior Green. Now the decals, so what is delivered from ICM it was very hard to work. I used the most parts from them except the USAF insignias, but this is for the first and i hope for the last time. I needed 3 days to get the silvering out! The USAF insignias are from Aero Master. Panel lines are highlighted with Revell Aquacolor , water and dishwash detergent. Because i wanted to have a shine airplane, everything was sealed with Tamiya X 22 acrilic clear. Now the second Mustang is from Tamyia. Is not to much to say. The kit is perfect. I used the same paints but in adition i used Tamiya's TS 28 Oliv Drab 2 like the instructions sugested. All the decals are from the kit except the white strips, there i used paint. They worked perfectly with hot water and a bit of help from Micro Sol. Everything is sealed with Gunze Top Coat Semi gloss clear. Here are the pictures :

Hi! Thanks for your coments!
You probably speak about the new Tamiya Mustang in scale 1/32, this is with engine, photoetch parts, rubber tyres and other nice goody's. My models are 1/48 scale! This models are without engine! You need to buy them from other supplieres like Aires for example. This Mustangs kits are also cheap in comparation but if you buy all the extras from other supplyers (engine, corect wheelbay, wheels, corect propellers, resin cockpit or eduard photoetch parts) you will pay maybe the same price like the bigger kit from Tamiya! !

Re: P 51 D Mustang - one from ICM and one from Tamiya
1/72 is a smaller size ( 72 times smaller then the real plane!)
So you need to buy this : http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=60322 but is very expensive in the USA.
