Tyres Bursting at High Speed Highways in Summer season.
How the Tyres (Tube & Tubeless) can be prevented
from Bursting for the Cars running at High Speed Highways in Summer season?. I mean what could be the preventive measures for avoiding the fatal accidents resulting to death or permanent physical disability for the passengers? 1 Tyres maintenance pressure check at daily intervals. 2. Rubber Quality Wear and Tear out. |

Everyone by now should know this.
And maintaining cold tire pressures at or up to no more than 3psi above vehicle mfg. specs is one of the best ways, along with checking treadwear, to prevent such incidents. |

Thanks.
What could be the survival chances for the driver along with the Passengers in the vehicle when facing such a situation? The Driver is in a very difficult position to save himself along with passengers in the car. Even Expert Skilled Drivers have a difficult task ahead in such a situation. Isn' it? |

1 Controlling Steering Wheel
2 Not applying brakes suddenly 3 Alarming sound signals similar to Siren in Ambulance. Anything else? |

Thanks.
Are Siren allowed in your country for private owned vehicles? In India, Fire Brigade vehicle, ambulance & police cops vehicles can install Siren - Sound system. The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, does not allow use of siren and pressure horn on any vehicle, except police, fire brigade and ambulance. Last edited by prashant_akerkar; 04-28-2023 at 09:06 PM. |

Thanks.
I feel while driving on highways, extra safety precaution would be carrying helmet by all the passengers. |

But how does carrying a helmet relate to a tire bursting? A bursting tire should not lead to a collision or loss of vehicle control unless the driver over-reacts. To that point though, I suppose someone prone to over-reacting may be the same type of person who would carry a helmet with them in a car.... -Rod |

Thanks.
I mean the passengers apart from the driver (who is also a passenger is driving) wear the Helmet while approaching Highways or places where there could be accident. For example : Mountain, Hill. Can a Car driver wear a Helmet while driving in those accident prone areas?. Would it be useful? |

If the Tyre/s burst in the car leading to accident, Could Helmet would have saved the passengers from head injuries? |

Re: Tyres Bursting at High Speed Highways in Summer season.
The extra mass of the helmets would likely lead to neck injuries unless the head is restrained and neck braces are also worn, such as in race cars. But then peripheral vision is restricted, which would likely lead to further accidents.
Do you have any specific, citable, data to suggest that head injuries from tires bursting is a real problem? And what is the leading cause of bursting tires? If tires typically burst from lack of maintenance or improper tire pressure, do you think drivers who fail to properly care for their tires are going to take the time to wear a helmet, neck brace, etc.? -Rod |

Re: Tyres Bursting at High Speed Highways in Summer season.
Thanks for the information on Neck braces.
Attached Neck braces images. Wearing a Helmet and Neck brace by all the passengers in the car could add a extra safety caution in Accident prone areas as well as in Highways. Last edited by shorod; 05-08-2023 at 07:59 AM. Reason: Removed unrelated, unncessary, neck brace images. |

Re: Tyres Bursting at High Speed Highways in Summer season.
I'm sorry that I am a bit late to the party.
First, the actual burst pressure of a tire is many times the pressure normally used or what the max pressure written on the sidewall is. But tires can rapidly lose their pressure if damaged while operating, such as hitting an object. As long as tires are pressurized, this is a possibility. In other words, there is no preventing tire bursting caused by road debris. Much of the thread above concerns how to protect occupants of a vehicle due to a crash - regardless of if a tire is involved or not. Again, there is no preventing these things - only minimizing the effects. Plus, there seems to be some posts missing. The OP seems to be responding to posts that aren't there. But consider the case of a racing driver. They wear all kinds of things and the car is designed to mitigate the damage in a crash - and in spite of all that, there are fatalities. In other words, how far does one go to protect passengers in cars? Maybe making them stay at home in a padded room? It's risk vs reward. |
