Re: BMW E36 318i ELECTRIC WINDOWS PROBLEM

For the electric windows, I've had endless problems myself, some still unsolved, however, the only blatantly obvious thing I can suggest is something stupid like, you accidently pressed the circuit breaker button beneath the steering wheel to the left, which disables the electric windows.

And for the dash lights, mine didnt come on aswell as my headlights, so it was just a case of changing the fuse; (the fuse for interior lights etc. will be identified in the owner's handbook) so you could try that..........

Re: BMW E36 318i ELECTRIC WINDOWS PROBLEM

dat1986,
If the red light is shining on the window switch there is power and you have not accidently pressed the circut breaker beneath the streering wheel. and although the lite is on, your switch may be "dirty". Get some electrical contact cleaner spray, (maybe ace or true-value has some) and take your switches apart and spray. be careful when you disassemble the switch- pay attention as to how it goes together. they are delicate little instruments. No need to disassemble them all the way, just enough to see the contacts!! Keep a towel or something under as you take them apart to catch any pieces that get away from you. good luck
