I don't think GM is planning to bring back the bird. At least not yet. I haven't heard anything about it. But they might if the new camaro takes off in '09.

no the bird will not come back, pontiac will bring back the GTO with a "New" look, it will look more like the older one.

Well if you look at the situation here, the whole 'gimmick' is that the big 3 are playing the "let's recreate the muscle car era" ideology. So, Ford brought in the Mustang, Dodger the Charger and Challenger, Chevy The Camaro, and Pontiacs player of the time be would the GTO.

The firebird name isn't the problem, its trans am. Has something to do with racing and licensing rights for the name.

FIREBIRD WS6 instead of trans am. hey, it worked before... the WS6 is a 'better' version... or like.. firebird gt. firebird SS firehawk (now thats a nice name) =P
