'01 Cougar No Air flow 99% of the time need heat and live in WI

One day I was driving with the Air on and I went in a store and when I started my car the air was not working. I checked the heat and the different speeds and nothing I had no air flow on any speed or setting. Then one day I happened to try the heat as it was cold out and it worked fine as did the air and everything else. After work the same day it didnt work again. I have been going back and forth with it working and not working and now its been mostly not working last time it worked was like 2 weeks ago. I live in Wisconsin and will need heat and defrost soon. I have called around to see what the dealers and auto stores say and most say it sounds like the Blower motor is bad. I asked about the resistor and they said if that was the case should have some speeds or something still. I know something is working cause when I put my hand in front of the vents i can feel the hot or cold it just doesn't blow. I guess I am asking for any help or ideas. I am also thinking of trying the motor I can get one for around $50 but I have no clue where it is on the car or how to replace shops want about $300 plus what ever to test it to much for me. I tried to find repair info on line but have found nothing can't even find a repair book for this car. any help would be appericated
