Engine Bore

I'll be attending UTI in the coming spring, and I plan to do alot with this car with the stock engine, but Im going to stay away from that psychotic hemi idea i had...

I want to go overbore, but i havent heard much at ALL about that. I mean, the tibs got a REALLY good engine, just lackluster performance because of various bottlenecks.

All-aluminum block & head, if i recall, 9.5:1 compression, Steel connection rods... (correct me if im wrong here, lol)

Hell, at this point, I wanna know if anyones bored out their engine 'cus I wanna bore mine out to a 3.0L, slap some 11:1 compression pistons in there, Prolly high-flow injectors, pulleys, Inevitably swap out the tranny for a 6-speed (Likely to be manual)... But im still doing my side exhaust! lol

I went on a tangent there.... All im asking is "Is it possible to bore out the stock 2.7 to a 3.0 without having to put sleeves in it?"

Re: Engine Bore

Delta DOHC V6
Materials: Aluminum block / aluminum cylinder head
Displacement (cc): 2.7 liters (2656cc/162 cubic inches)
Bore x Stroke (mm): 86.7mm x 75.0mm (3.413 inches x 2.954 inches)
Compression Ratio: 10.0:1

the "delta" 2.7 is a reworked 2.5 (which is why you see the 2.5 and 2.7 castings on the block).

i pretty sure they both bored and stroked the 2.5 a little bit to get the 2.7, but i can't find where i originally read that.

as you can see, those cylinders are pretty close together (at least i think so). i know there are 2 different lower-compression piston kits avail that require a .017-.020 bore for proper fitment, so there has to be at least that much material left to work with.

from what i've read (on another site by a reputable tuner), the stock rods are good to at least 400hp.

Finding an avatar maker

Hey guys i just joined this forum and I'm looking around for a good avatar maker so i can get a picture by my name. i came across this article: Make your own avatar but it doesn't really help the kind of avatar maker im looking for. I'm looking for one to make for use on forums like this one. If anyone has some good suggestions for me that would be great... Thanks!

Re: Engine Bore

you're stupid.

the G6BA is a SMALL engine, the tiburon platform is horrible, its FWD, it's Hyundai's FIRST attempt at a "sports" car, and their second attempt was slightly more refined (Genesis)
The 2.7L is a bored 2.5L, boring it anymore would mean hitting the veins rendering the engine useless.
You can wetsleve it to 2.9 or 3.0 but it's a stupid idea, boost the G6BA and be happy, it handles 300 easy without any issues, more than that and you'll want to re-ring the pistons to prevent them from locking under high temp applications (aka boosting)
