Taking off rear fender hugger for bigger tire??
hey everyone. i plan on moving up from a 160 for the rear tire to a 170 on my 1992 F2. will i have to take off the rear fender hugger if i make this switch? and even if i take off the hugger, is this going to effect anything? i think it will look nicer without it anyways. LET ME KNOW! thanks guys and gals

it will change a fair bit, from speedo accuracy to handling characteristics. ask a pro first on the handling

Oversizing can be tricky. You can have problems anywhere from the rim not being wide enough to handle a larger-sized tire to the frame (or fender hugger) being in the way. Like blayne also said, it WILL change your handling characteristics.
Despite ALL this, I did oversize from a 130 to a 140 on my bike, but I have been lucky *SO FAR* [knocks on wood] It DEFINATELY changes handling characteristics. For example, my bike CANNOT be leaned over as far due to the tire change. I will drag the whole bike before I can get rid of my "chicken strips". Just a fact I have to face now.

For me it worked out fine, my FZR can upgrade from 140 to 150, but it created problems when people tried to put a 160 on it, because that would pinch the tire. Stability of the bike is much better, I've did some stupid things when turning the bike in slow speed, and it's been forgiving, so suffice to stability in both speed and coasting has improved dramatically. Rider's height changed, but not enough for me notice. It's eating up bumps pretty well, even though rear suspension on my bike sucks.
My advice is to do some research online as I did, other people who tried it before will tell which upgrade safer, and which is too much. Usually, one size up or down is ok. But it doesn't hurt to check.

keep the same tire size stock. u want it to handle crappier? also your SPEEDO runs off a cable that goes to your "FRONT" tire. and yeah stay with stock size tire buddy. those f2's aren't very nimble allready muchless you wanna make it worse?
