I am considering selling my Panoz GTRA chassis Number 47, car 56. The car has about 257 hrs of time on it. It has been cleaned, sorted, courner balanced, interior cleaned painted. all system gone over. Brakes good, clutch cable bracket upgrade. All GTS upgrades, Texas car DOM tubing. Explorer motor/good manifold, best heads. New Clutch Cable, Filter, Belt, Rear diff fluid, tranny fluid, air filter, all rear lid fastners, . 2 sets of wheels- 1 new with P zero D3 80% life left, P7000. Excellant condition.One of the cleanest Low hours cars. Will post pictures soon. @23,500 obo. Car has tralier also avaliable for $1800.

I like the car, the whole trailering, unloading, then reloading, and doing it again is just too much work. My development will not let me keep the trailer at my house but I keep the car in my garage, it took me 4 hrs to get setup just to go to the track so I took off half a day friday, So it is a royal pain in the ars. I think I will go back to a street/track car and stick to HPDEs. I am getting rid of the the BIG SUV next month so it is getting complicated. I thought I would give racing a shot but 3 kids and a biz take alot of time and there has to be balance. I can get a car I drive to the track get my kick, drive home and that is that. The panoz is fun. Sorry about your off, but it looks like you will have a gem when done.

I understand completely, but that's part of it. I wound up building a 40X60 garage to store my cars, trailer, tools, etc. etc. All the stuff that surrounds this hobby. It's actually become more of a lifestyle than just a hobby and some of my best memories are of times at the track, or after the event, or somewhere in between.

Maybe you already mentioned it but what kind of car do you drive when you go to HPDE's?

car is stock, 294 torque at rear wheels, 266hp at crank. not alot of hp but a 997 gt3rs only has 300 lbs torque is a little heaver. THe car can have over 80 more hp for a few k, cam,heads, intake.

Back to you squerly, I would regularly track a 05 lotus elise, I actually did not use it for a streat car bought it for a track car, it is very easy to drive until you get to 90%, then the rear weight bias gets interesting. I like the car not the fasters thing around but fun. It is a bit fragile, the result of being so light. Keep posting pic. of the redo I love that stuff. We need a race car restor show on TV enough of the house and truck stuff.

Dang man... but I have to say I fully understand. There are some days where it'd make more sense to just get a new '08 C6 as my daily driver and run a few HPDEs in it a year to get the fix and sell the rest.

I have a suggestion - odd as it may seem. Sell HALF of the car!!!
Find a partner to share the labor, cost and enjoyment with. Maybe I'm nuts - but half the fun of doing what we do is the people we do it with. It's hard to do this alone. At best - it is just a hobby - even for the serious racers among us.

This sounds like a case of "the grass is always greener...". When you use your street car for the track you start wanting more. Pretty soon it's "I need a better seat" and "I need a harness". Then you have to take the seat and harness in and out for each event. "I need better brake pads". Now your swapping pads for each event. "I want sticky tires"....... You get the point.

Any car you take to the track will require more maintenance and repair. That's just a fact of life. With a dedicated track car you don't have to return it to stock when your finished with the event. When it breaks, you don't need a tow truck or borrow a trailer to get you home.

You say it took 4 hours to get loaded up for the track. Some of that time will still be needed even if you taking your street car. You still need tools, water, snacks, driving clothes, helmet.....

I have my trailer loading set up to where I can be ready to go in under an hour. I can have the trailer loaded in about 20 minutes.
