Wave bye bye to the mustang... Bye bye!!

Yeah, well, I was at a redlight in my civic, and I look in the rear view, and there's a kid from my school behind me, he has a mid 80's mustang GT, well, I floor it off the line, and screw around a bit, to let him know I'm in front of him, well, he pulls next to me to try to past, but I floor it, expecting to see him fly bye laughing at me. Well, we were dead even, for a 1/4 mile, we were dead even, I slow down (careful about the cops) and he pulls in front of me. we're goin down the street, and there's a on ramp for a highway, I see his finger go out the window, and he's pointing to the onramp, so I follow him on, and I hit it. he must not know how to shift, because I stayed with him through all the gears, and when we hit 80 mph, I started to pull away, and I put my hand out the window and waved bye bye to the mustang... Well, I saw him later, and he was like, "Whoa, dude, what do you have in your car?! You're shit is fast!!!" (I really have nothing under the hood, and I just started laughing) Then he was telling everyone how my car was so fast and how I beat him, and after that, all the kids with camaros, and cobras wanna race.

I wasn't bein a jerk, just clarifying. Yeah, all I got on my car is an exhaust, so I tend to not try to race, but his car seem so slow for some reason. It is a GT though, just a shitty driver I guess.

Also you never know what condition the transmission and engine are in. You said it was a late 80's model. No many of those around in good shape.

Who cares if you went 80 mph. I do that everyday when i'm not racing. Please, tell me something good. I've been in faster then that, if you think that's a rcae then stop claiming yourself as a racer. You disgrace all of us who actually know our cars and respect them. Once you hit over 120 come and talk to me, but until then shut-up and stop talking. And when you want to become a real racer stop drivinga ricer and get a real car.

Please don't tell me your going to actually encourage people to push their cars into triple digit territory in a street race on public roads. You DO realize that at 120mph your vehicle is moving 176ft/sec which means that you have about 3 seconds to adjust and compensate for traffic that is a football field and a half away from you before you run right into it? Use your head buddy, if you haven't won the race by 80mph your not going to, and there is no point in pushing a car beyond your ability to safely control it just to try and prove something. The only thing that you prove is that you care even less about your own safety than the the safety of the rest of us on the road. You should really lose your bullsh*t macho attidude before you get yourself, or worse, someone else hurt. And personally I don't consider Swonder67's post to be a disgrace. I've been building and racing cars for almost two decades, as wells as diving much deeper into the triple digits than 120 while running in the Pony Express in New Mexico, and I say NICE KILL.

1) I already said I wasn't a racer, and that I hardly race.

2) Sorry, but my NSX, my Supra, and my Skyline GT-R are all in the shop... the Civic is just a loaner... (That was sarcasm) I'm 19 years old, and my wallet can't support anything other than a civic.

3) to repeat point 1, I already said I wasn't a racer.

even if i beat a mustang or any other car, as long as it's a civic, i would not be proud of having a 17 second "race" car.

not everyone around here can afford an nsx.....maybe you should consider yourself lucky and not make fun of other people who try to fix up their cars just for the love of the "sport"....don't talk shit about others just because they don't want to drive recklessly.....

just my 2 won.....can anyone guess where this money is used?
