Ferrari 575M Maranello vs Porsche 911 GT2

Ferrari 575M Maranello

5.75 Liters
Front Engine/RWD
515HP/434lbs of TQ
0-60 in 4.25 seconds
Quarter Mile in 12.3 seconds
3815 lbs

Porsche 911 GT2

3.6 Liters
Rear Engine/RWD
462HP/457lbs of TQ
0-60 in 4.0 seconds
Quarter Mile in 11.9 seconds
3175 lbs

Now I know most of you will say the 911 GT2...but mind you the GT2 is basically a race car...all you need to do is slap on the numbers and go race in GTS class...hehe. But it still has the Porsche creature comforts.

I'd take ferrari , but i think it's not a good comparsion... The ferrari is a Grand Touring and the porsche is almost a race car...

1. I would take the Porsche, though it's a very tough choice.
However:
2. Contrary to popular belief, the GT2 is nowhere near a race car. The original GT2 was made for racing, the current GT2 is not. Peter Dumbreck of Mercedes-Benz fame was not totally convinced by the GT2 when he tested it on a track... now if you have a race driver saying he's not quite sure about a supposed race car's ability on a race track, then its not an effective race car, simple as that. In fact, he found the 360 Modena a better drive. Not as quick, but better. There is only one racer in the current Porsche line-up, and thats the GT3.
The 993GT2 was built to do a job, which it did admirably, guaranteeing it a place in Porsche history as the greatest turbocharged Porsche of all time. The 996GT2 is fast, furious, but not a race car.

race car or not. the GT2 is designed to be more of a racer in mind then the ferrari. the ferrari is a road car just like a lambourgini. if you pushed hard, you can get it to go fast at a track. but its not designed to run on a track and its more of a open road car.

The GT2 is a flawed race car as it doesnt communicate with the driver, doesnt tell him what is happening. If a top-calibre race driver says he's not quite sure whats happening with the car when he's driving it on a track you can bet your a** its not a proper race car. It may be quicker than the Maranello around the track but it doesnt mean its a better race car if the Maranello can inspire confidence and is natural to drive around the track, which the GT2 has been criticised for. The GT2 is designed to be a beast. Whether that makes it a race car in your opinion is up to you. As you've guessed, it certainly doesnt make it one for me.

cheers,
jay

Both of these cars are two of my favorites. It would be an extremely tough decision but I would end up taking the Ferrari. The reason I would choose the ferrari is that ferrari's are even more exotic than porsche's, and when people talk about how they would take the GT2 for performance reasons, while it is more of a race car, trust me there is no way that you would truly "need" anymore performance than the Ferrari. And come on people its a "FERRARI"!!! Alot of people can afford to buy porsches(boxsters, carreras) but almost nobody can afford to drive a Ferrari. Not saying that everyone can afford to buy a GT2, but just saying that ferraris are more rare. Anyways, they are both amazing cars!

Well I'm going to have to say the 575M for the rarity factor like gc1chad said.

Why the hell are you replying to a thread that's over two years old?

You're really starting to get under my skin.
