bypass air conditioner
i have a 95 jeep sport. a.c is bad can anyone give me a diagram for a shorter belt so i can bypass the a/c pulley. i've been looking at it, but i just can't see how it can be done. { that doesn't mean that it can't, i just can't see it }. they also , apparently, do not sell a dummy pulley. thanks for any help.sorry. 4.0 L engine

Re: bypass air conditioner
You cannot bypass it with a shorter belt but you can go to autozone and order an A/C bypass pulley for a wrangler with a 4.0. It is the exact same thing as I have this on my jeep already. This is why I know that it exists. I believe it was around 40 bucks. you may also be able to find something on ebay but I am not sure.

If you haven't gotten it done yet...
You can get the sticker with the no AC diagram from the dealership, and just buy the no AC belt.

Re: bypass air conditioner
i'll try the dealer today. i looked at it again. there's a bracket and some bolts in the way. i think theh must've changed the configuration. also, i can get a replacement for a wrangler, 4.0, but they tell me it won't work on a cherokee. they do sell replacements for '91,'92,and '93 cherokees, but they tell me it won't work for a '95. VERY frustrating !!!. i guess i need to go find a wrangler and see if it is the same. maybe they can tell me at the dealer today.

Re: bypass air conditioner
well, it's fixed. 38 bucks. shipped to my door. what a deal. got a bypass pulley from Monsterauto.com. nice people. this jeep, without a/c, comes with another idler pulley in lieu of the compressor. the problem was, the new pulley was listed for certain years only. the reason for that was, they changed the way the lines entered the compressor. well, you are not going to use the compressor so what difference does it make ? duh !! anyway, a 95 wrangler bypass pulley WILL fit a 95 cherokee sport. thanks to everybody
