You should be charged an advertising fee for posting on this site. Your site has become nothing but an advertisement for your product.

Re: Modeler Site February 2009 issue is on net !!!
Correct me if I am wrong, but since his site is free, and not selling a product, I don't see how he qualifies as a commercial vendor and subject to forums rules regarding fees that commercial vendors must pay to advertise. It would be a different if Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine, for example, advertised because it is a commercial vendor actively seeking paying clients.

I like to be informed about those new updates. I always like to see the new issue. Why should it be forbidden to inform us about this?

Maybe I missed it in my cursory glance over your website, but what product are you selling?

Re: Modeler Site February 2009 issue is on net !!!
One of the joys of modeling is sharing info and tips with fellow builders always has been and always will, I was dissapointed to see enticing articles on the Modelers Site and then have to PAY to read the rest of the article. To me personally that's not in the true spirit of modeling.

Quote:I guess you are happy doing your consultant work, and probably is what you enjoy in the life, besides your family, friends and hobby. I'm sure you work during a lot of hours at day. So one of the joys of the consultant job is sharing info and tips with fellow people. Also I guess that you are working for free and you surely enjoy your work very much, then why somebody should pay you, I don't think so as you are doing your job because you feel is the more important thing in your life.
One of the joys in my life was to create and go on with an online magazine, as well as TMMI, FSM, Scale Auto...and many others. During my modelling life, probably I have spent half of what I earned in modelling stuffs and modelling magazines, and of course I have worked FOR FREE for modelling during more than 10 years....although you don't know that. It's very easy to make an opinion about what one doesn’t know, I’m little tired that people I don’t know make public opinions about a project that will be 10 years online, very successful and, plenty of talent and hard work. So let me know where you work and I will make in the right place an opinion about you and your work also. I was very disappointed to see people that make negative opinions without have in account the consequences. If you will not read, or contribute in some way, then please keep aside of Modelersite, that’s all, I don’t see the point to write against us or our philosophy, other than frustration and resentment because you would want to do what we do and you can’t. I will follow posting here, meanwhile 10 people will follow distilling poison, others 100 will enjoy Modelersite, as is. __________________ Mario Covalski: Unquote Whew!! Calm down my friend and don't get yourself so worked up, I was merely expressing MY opinion, and I don't appreciate your false assumptions, I have been building 43rds since the early 80's and have contributed dozens of articles to various publications all " pro bono".You have a very well done professional site but as far as I know the only one that charges money for archived articles and you have quite a bit of advertisers as well, so what's the big deal?, you should cultivate your audience, not turn them off, after all they are all potential customers and I do hope you compensate your contributors as well. I guess I will agree to disagree with you to me it's about expanding our hobbies and with others it's all about money. I wish you all the best. |

You also use an offensive tone and make judgements on things you don't know. With all respect why do you feel the urge to answer these posts if you think they aren't saying the truth? It would be easier for everyone if someone decided to stop the bickering. PS: The thing that I didn't like about modelersite back when I visited it was that it only loaded on IE. Is it because of the use of that proprietary soft? |
