Question 65 Mustang Question

I'm in the process of restoring a 65 Mustang coupe, 289 automatic. I am currently down to the frame, and need to have some minor bodywork performed. My dilema is this; I want to have the entire frame/body media blasted, then get the bodywork underway, but someone informed me that this might damage the body so now i'm not what to do.

I also want to have the entire underside shot with Herculiner. This i'll do myself-i'm not a body dude. Ques: Should I undercoat the fender wells?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 65 Mustang Question

I can't really help you, but I do have a request - please take pictures (plenty and big ones!) to document your restoration project. I love reading those, so much inspiration.

I'm not a body man either but there doesn't seem to be any out there to respond so I'll offer what very little knowledge I have on the subject. A good friend and racing buddy of mine does restorations on old 30's and 40's cars likes Rolls Royces, Chrysler T&C's ect. He has stuff chemical dipped. I believe this is done to avoid stressing the metal, which goes along with what you've heard. I have no idea what this costs but his customers are generally high rollers and can afford it. If you're interested I can talk to him for more info. Don't really know about this Herculiner stuff, but you should have some form of coating on any bare metal. I've got a 69 MAch1 that's been under reconstruction for far too many years. I've sprayed under coating on the wheelwells and it looks fine. I brushed on some of Eastwood's rust inhibitor on the entire under side of the car after a pretty thorough stripping. I'm just going to spray bomb some black paint over that.
