2001 Grand Am (operating Temperature?) HELP
Hi, I have a 2001 Grand AM GT with the 3.4 It has two cooling fans. The car runs at 200 degrees. I notice that the engine seem to be running hot thuogh, hot enough to make even the prop rod to hot to touch. I have had this car for a week now and have been watching it while driving, I have yet to see the cars fan to come on yet! SO my question is at what temperature does the car need to be when the fans come on? Is my car running hot at 200 degrees? I have checked all the fuses and The Ac has a bypass pully on it... would this effect the fans function?
Thanks So much in advance for any help.. Just tryin to keep from needing a new head on the car! |

Re: 2001 Grand Am (operating Temperature?) HELP
The cooling fans turn on point(s) is approximately for low speed 220 degrees and 230 for high speed. The A/C bypass pulley will affect engine cooling since running the A/C turns the fans on under different conditions and sooner. 200 is not bad since the stock thermostat is 195 degrees.
