99+ Mustang question

This must be a numerously posted question yet i have additions to this . How reliable is the 99+ Basemodel mustang . Fast?

Are there any mods that i would see some good performance out of ? for
$100
$200
$300 ?

I also heard that if you have a system in one of these all the plastic components in the interior shake and rattle . Is this true? I just wanna know these answers to these questions so i can decide and be a mustang owner Asap.


Also How are the chances of a 99 Mustang 6cyl Manual. beating a 98 mustang gt Automatic

from my research the 0-60 times are pretty damn close .yet im not familair with the 1/4 at all , a response to the other questions would be appreciated too : )

Actually, you'd be surprised at what the 99+ 6 can do. For instance, MM&FF did a 14.9 in a stock 5 speed. If the driver is badass enough, they can do low 15s. Auto GTs, I think, can go as low as a mid 15.

I used to race a stock auto 99 GT and his best time was a 14.5 @ HRP.

The 96-98 GT Auto would probably fall prey to a 99 V6 manual, if the V6 driver was good.

Don't expect a Gen I auto GT to run better than a mid 15, which is right in 99+ V6 manual territory when driven by a good driver.

Btw, that's also assuming the V6 is running against a bone stock 4.6. The Gen I crowd doesn't like getting beat by ricers so they usually like to get some gears at least.

Throw some 3.73s into the Gen I and it's a new ball game.

Until you race an LT1 and get stomped.

First gen 4.6s were anemic... But I'd still get a 98 GT.

well most people explain themselves enough . But i guess i will have to again , MOST people who buy V6 mustangs either cant afford v8s , OR (in my case) insurance will be through the roof .

Honestly, some gears, Mustang GT exhaust, CAI, performance module, and a few other little goodies can get a V6 well into the 14s. The old LT-1's usually hang out in the low 14's, and the Gen I 4.6's in the very high 14's to low 15's. At least it'll keep you in decent company.

You'll probably have to go to forced induction or N20 to start beating up on the Fox 5.0s and the LT-1's though.

Yeah the car is definately fun to drive. Today I did my first real burnout in it. It left "one" really long strip of black on the pavement. I get a lot of compliments about the car, but I don't think it would be worth it to mod it. I plan on getting a V8 when I get out of college so I might as well start saving now.

The car seems to be built really well and everything seems to be working ok.

If you got the money and can afford it go with the GT. You can get the six to compete but it takes time and money. If the GT is modified any it's just that much harder to catch.
