F1s in Gaming - Representation Accuracies and Inaccuracies
Sorry this is still not sorted, will do my best!
**this post is in the editing process am pretty busy atm but will try to get it sorted asap** Hi! A thread to list your experiences of how different F1 models have been represented - either well or not-so-well - in console/pc games. I will compile a list in this first post of all the known instances of F1s in games. (most of these thanks to BRX880 at this stage!) MCLAREN F1 NFS II/SE {1997}[PS, PC] - BRX880 NFS Hot Pursuit II{2002}[PC, Xbox, GameCube, PS2] - BRX880 NFS Pro Street - BRX880 NFS Undercover - BRX880 TDU - BRX880 MCLAREN F1 LM NFS VI Hot Pursuit II - BRX880 PGR3 - BRX880 PGR4 - BRX880 TDU - BRX880 MC3DUB - dbsf1 MCLAREN F1 GT TDU - BRX880 FM2 - BRX880 MCLAREN F1 GTR NFS IV High Stakes ('96 road)BRX880 TDU ('96 road)BRX880 GT4 ('97 race)BRX880 GRID ('95 race)BRX880 SEGA Scud Race ('96 race - Gulf livery)F1GTRUeno Enthusia Pro Racing ('95/'96 race - a variation on the FINA livery)F1GTRUeno I know there's lots of games that feature the F1 in most, if not all of it's guises, and I'm sure some of you here must have copies of those! Re: F1s in Gaming - Representation Inaccuracies
Be sure to add your reviews of F1s in these games if you have owned and/or played them.
I shall kick it off with Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, which I have on PSP; and Forza 2 which I have played before on a 360. Anyone with better images than what are here (I just did a quick google search for the mclarens in these games - easier and clearer than taking my own!) please let me know! And please contribute your own views on these games, and any others you have come across! MCLAREN F1 LM Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition on PSP -Generally well rendered. Air vent/scoop on one side only consistent with real LMs. Main problem: Appears to be a turbo blow-off valve (?) sound MCLAREN F1 GT Forza Motorsport 2 on Xbox 360 -The best look at a GT we're ever likely to get! I wonder if the renderers (?) got to look at one when renderising (?) it??? Appears very highly detailed (and fitted with the thinner, seemingly more recent rims - as opposed to the Scottish photoshoot ones). This game also features the 1997 McLaren #41 Gulf Team McLaren F1 GTR, and the 1997 #43 Team BMW Motorsport McLaren F1 GTR - both to a similarly high standard. |

Re: F1s in Gaming - Representation Inaccuracies
A Gulf GTR (the 96 livery I think) is in the classic SEGA Arcade game 'Scud Race'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSA6z19XPV0 There was a Bigazzi GTR in Enthusia Professional Racing as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZNDHZMhn48 rFactor and GTR/2/Evo/etc have had F1's made for them. |

It has a 1996 GTR in Gulf livery. Though I think only very very few people have this 'maschine' actually at home... PS: I've edited post #2 |

Re: F1s in Gaming - Representation Inaccuracies
I’m not so knowledgeable about those games, but as far as I know no F1 was/is originally available for them.
It is, however, available through addons done by modding teams afterwards. This also counts for several NFS titles where F1's were created as unofficial addon by different persons/teams (though the quality was not the best back then...). Last edited by BRX880; 05-30-2009 at 06:04 AM. |

Re: F1s in Gaming - Representation Inaccuracies
Just remembered two more games from my childhood.
The first PS1 game I ever played was a classic called Total Drivin', this game had allsorts of different cars but they weren't exactly licensed. You raced as one of I think it was about 6 drivers, all of different nationalities, each of the different drivers had five different types of cars to suit the environment you were racing in. So on street circuits, you used either Champ Cars or Sportscars. If I remember correctly, there was an Esprit, an EB110, a Viper GTS, F355, a Diablo, and last, but not least, an F1 GTR. You'll see it here in white and blue at around a minute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbzK3...eature=related Unfortunately it's not the greatest quality, but I'll go on the game tomorrow and see if I can get a decent picture of it cause I still have my original disc from way back when. And secondly, with not such a big write up....they released a Le Mans game in 98 or 99, can't remember exactly when, but as you'll see in this video, it features the EMKA Longtail, and the Loctite Longtail from 98. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF1rD...eature=related |
