took out my water pump stupid stupid stupid
89 toyota tercel 4cyl auto
so my car was overheating and i changed the thermostat then i took out the water pump ..i put the water pump back in and used atv sealant round the outake side of it as haynes manual said..i waited bout an hour and a half to run the engine everything was fine no leaking just the engines idle was a bit ruff i test drove it and it ran like a champ no over heating or anything...i started her up the next morning and idle wasreally ruff i had to keep my foot on the gas to keep it from stalling i looked underneath the car and the waterpump was leaking this only happens when the car is warming up and idling ruff when the car is a bit more warm there is no leak and idles fine it doesnt leak lots only drops, could the water pump be giving my belts a hard time turning therefore giving my car a ruf idle ???? why did i play with it in the first place supid me.. one time i drove it and didnt warm it up drove it on a extremely short trip and stopd the car and it leaked lots what the hell is happening???

Re: took out my water pump stupid stupid stupid
nope. Usually overnight should work, depends on the brand of the RTV silicone. Of course, you DID remember to put the bolts back in......right? (just kidding) But, making sure that everything is snug is a good idea, because sometimes things manage to work loose, especially after reinstalling bolts, so you'd just have to go back in there and tighten everything down again. (Like that extra-long sentence? I thought so)
Of course, my family had a tercel AWD wagon once, about that old, too. And it'd overheat on a 60 degree day going down the highway. After some detective work, we discovered that the car just sucked. But that may or may not be your case... |
