Re: SERIOUSLY OT: Calling all chicks! IT'S PART 6!!

So... went to install the new radiator on the Grand Cherokee... Most overly complex thing in history. Everything that could possibly be bolted to or around the radiator is. Top, bottom, front, and back... all packed with crap bolted to it. I'm pretty sure step 1 in the Jeep factory is to install the radiator to the chassis... then bolt everything to it. At least I remembered not to lay under the front skid plate when I unbolted it this time... made that mistake when I changed the steering gear. Tomorrow I get to put it all back together... assuming the parts stores have the stuff I need to hook my trans cooler back up because the replacement radiator has different fittings. Also learned my fan clutch is probably bad... could explain why it sounds like a prop plane when I first start it up.

Changing the radiator was simple with the Land Cruiser. Regarding the fan clutch, I thought mine was going bad as well. I did some research on LC forums and replaced the fluid in my fan clutch. Was pretty simple and cheap. Didn't have any problems after that.

Nice. My fan clutch wasnt serviceable- the silicone goo is permanently sealed in it. But its the same fan clutch that most all american cars had for like the better part of the 20th century, so a new one was only like $50. Replaced the thermostat, water pump, fan clutch, and radiator and operating temp dropped 20 degrees. Used to run at 210, now runs at 190. Can't complain. Logged over 2000 miles already since I changed them- trekked out to Tennessee then down to Austin. Hit 196,000 miles so next up is plugs/wire/cap/rotor. I hear you can swap the old injectors for 4 port injectors and gain a little mileage, which would be nice since I'm getting 15.2 highway (single digits in town ). Living the old vehicle life...

Re: SERIOUSLY OT: Calling all chicks! IT'S PART 6!!

Chatroom? bah! I haven't chatted since like 2004.
New developments... Buddy Club is garbage.... 8 months and 9k miles, and my upper control arm bushings are totally ripped/torn.

Not to mention the upper ball joint dust boots look older than the boots on my 17 year old tie rod ends...

I contacted them about getting them warrantied, but I'm not going to put them back on if they replace them... going back with Skunk2... never had an issue with them on my old hatch.... will probably put the Buddy Clubs on craigslist.
