Well recently I have found lots of Fiat Coupé's here in Turkey and I want to buy one as a second car (you know for weekends to go out and stuff like that). Now I would like to know how feasible it is to buy that car and what about the engine options ? I've seen there are 2.0 16V engine and a 2.0 20V and a 2.0 20V Turbo engines (but there are only 3 here in Turkey with the 2.0 20V engine option).
So what are you oppinions, and with which models should I be careful while buying and so on so on... Thanks in advance -- "Vi rende il desiderio, esso porta le passioni alla superficie, esso è l'alimentazione di un automobile italiano" -Eldalië in a Italian Course ![]()

Here for the pussy, man.

The Turbo's have issues with oil leaks, all models have issues with Air Con, tail light-bulbs blow and gearboxes occasionally need reconditioning- otherwise it's allright

Eldalie ,
This is the one that left me some years ago, very intrigued whether I should become owner of the same. From earliest design sketch of Chris Bangle (present BMW designer), entire press, and surprisingly from US as well , stated, this is one incredible car creation. Driving tests later proved, Coupe’s abilities are much more then skin deep, ranging from all sort of compliments and accolades…even hailed as little Ferrari for the real world price - and by Germans ! Most astonishing aspect that I’ve came to conclude is the fact that even in top version 20V LE (Limited edition), Coupe has no obvious homokinetic problems associated with overloading front wheel drive with more then 200PS. Only penalty however, enormously short life of tires. Jimster did make a note of some problems, but there is no getting away that Coupe has serious problems particularly until 1999. Fiat made serial slip with exhaust manifold and the same is weakest parts of the 20V turbo Coupé. Because of very poor design that was redesigned after 1999., large temperature range was making all sort of defects, ranging from obvious loss of power to serious vibration problems. This is the point you will hear from many Coupe owners and mostly Turbo owners Even prepared models for press testing, could not hide poor connection between materials and mostly doors with typical Fiat trademark…amazon sounds inside. So if you want to buy one, there is no better address or person on the entire web who could give you more information from the first hand : www.autonovum.de This man also made some serious engineering electronic modifications and his own custom design electronic boost controller is special story indeed. But you do need reality check facts : Turbo models (provided engine in good condition), would pass barely Euro III regulations, which means you might have serious problems with future regulations. You will spend fortune on tires (more then on the same power GTV Alfa) In event of spare parts, prepare to invest fortune, because they will become rare. I think Fiat look and drive is nothing short of sensation, but realistically speaking,Alfa GTV would be more sensible choice for many real world reasons. Best thing for engine would be to employ Fly-sequent Gas instalation, either LPG or better CNG which combined with Turbo would make loss of performance less then 2%. This will make economy, environment happy, and would make permanent smile on your face.

O.K. that is my decision, if I have not enough money I'll buy the 2.0 16V version, because a friend of mine has the Turbo Kit for it and he wants only 200€ for it. And if I have enough money I'll buy a 2.0 20V Turbo, a 2001 model costs about 35000€ in Turkey, and a 2.0 16V ranges about 9800€ and 15500€ that's the plan

Eldalie,
Are you serious ?!? 35000 Euro? …for Turbo ?! This is insane. For this kind of money you can take business class Lufthansa flight to German Fiat dealer. Buy yourself Turbo in perfect condition and super low mileage. Then go to first tourist office and reserve another business class to Spain and arrange one month hotel in Ibiza. When you go back to Turkey, you can decide what to do with the rest of money !!! Turbo could be 15-18 Euros at the most and even that is questionable provided it should be in prefect shape and condition. If Turbo is priced 35000 what is the cost of A4,3, or 156, 100,000Euro?!!! Come on, get serious. Look at German dealers or other European locations, there are Coupes as many as you like not to mention Alfa GTV’s. For 35000’Euros you can look even for Audi TT!

I have been in Istanbul once near…help me…Beuli or Bauli?
Anyway it seems I have missed something. What are the import customs in Turkey? You have Renault factories there, but what is percentage of custom import you actually pay upon purchase of new car? This prices are truly unbelievable high as if you own 5 own brands.

If it is a Import car you have to pay more than 67% of Tax, but if it is a car which is assembled or build in Turkey (such as Fiat, Toyota, Hyundai, Renault) you'll have to pay about 43% of Tax, and I mean V.A.T. as Tax
![]() The normal Tax for a 1.6 lt. Engine car with weight of 1.1t ranges from model year from 140€ to 220€ a year. (It can cost you much more if it is a Import car). Maybe the price of the Fiat Coupé 2.0 20V Turbo is so high because there were only 3 of them imported. By the way do you mean Beyoglu (it is pronounced Bay-oh-lu) ?

I know you assemble and produce Thalia.
What models from Toyota, Hyundai and Fiat are also made? This is really a nightmare, how much you have to pay. One might think is it even worth to buy used in your case… Not quite colossal between new and used. I really don’t know what to say. I hope Toyota new MR2 or Clio RS are on assemblage list ![]()

Fiat builds and assembles the, Dobló, Palio, Albea, Palio Weekend and the Marea
Renault builds and assembles the, Clio Symbol, Megané II Sedan and some of the old Megané and Megané Grandtourers. Hyundai builds and assembles the, Accent, Super and L100 Toyota builds and assembles the Corolla that's it... aaah and Mercedes builds Trucks and Busses in Turkey, such as the O403, O404, Travego, Actross and some models I don't know.

But it was everywhere in the press that Renault Thalia is exclusively
build in Turkey ?! Well in this case I would stick with Renault and Toyota. New top Corolla is great machine and drive. And new Megane is also nothing to laugh about. Those cars are brand new, and cost in your area for Fiat Coupe that will cost you infinitely more even when you buy the same is simply unacceptable.
