Review: MFH Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale ('67 model)

Hi guys! Time ago I went with my cool buddy Stevensky at a fantastic car exibition, and I had to fall in love with this lady:





(Yes before someone ask those in the background is a boring Zonda LOL)

Well to be precise I'm showing the late '68 Alfa 33, that would be soon for sale, for now we'll have a fantastic '67 model:

The car seems a "pachwork" of best '60 designs: something of the F206SP in teh front, the GT40 in the ass and in the door's opening system, looks like Franco Scaglione done his best (after some strange adventures with the Lambo Gt350..) with this car... a masterpiece.

Let me show something:





The body shell is amazing: one of the best Hiro's stuff, the same resin quality in modelling and casting as some Climax stuff like the GTO or the 250LM.












The shape seems me superbly captured, but I have to do a serious work on references (that I haven't in big quantity..)

Other parts are in the standard Hiro's quality, the V8 seems replicated very well, just a quick look:





But, guys, Hiro really done a masterpiece in the frame: it's...... sexy, incredible... magnesium rods are replicated in an incredible way and the fitting of 3 parts are superb.... I'll spend hours to watch this part..







PE, usual quality and quantity, ever without sprue and back tape like last models:



Stuff: superb as ever transparents and machined alu bits



I'm a bit perplexed on those rims: detail is ok but they seems a bit small to me... also the system seem not the best at this point: some work is needed to fit properly metal parts with alu, tyres are superb like all the '60 line





Clear and well designed instructions like ever (except Climax stuff, I guess 'cos they hadn't 3d stuff in those)



Guys, at now I have same of MFH kits, but this one is one of the very best. Looking forward to receive my racer 33 (coda tronca) and I'll update this review also with those

truely one of my favourite cars of all time.
been waiting for someone to make a small kit (i.e not the fujimi biggie) of this and when I first saw it on the MFH site, I was happier than a schoolboy in a girls locker room.

I saw that exibit on TV las week. Most cars just don't exist here in Brazil. I also have to go to Italy and check it out.
The review is great, and the kit should turn out superb wiht your skill.

I got mine at motorbooks and it was worth the price.

Hi Gio,

nice review, nice kit, interesting car.

Like Steve I had the 1:16 Fujimi kit, but sold it meanwhile.
Looking at the amount of parts of the MFH kit I think the decision was ok, however I think I´d prefer a motorsport model ;-))
