Do a compression check on #5 cylinder.

Re: 2002 S-10 service engine soon light on

Get the actual code for us and not just the mechanics description of it.

If it is a cylinder #5 misfire, chances are you need to change that injector out for one that doesn't have the end poppet valve clogged.

Here is the injector, take about 1 hour to swap out.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33557

If it is that cylinder misfire, first check for spark going to that cylinder by sticking a screwdriver into the plug wire and hold it about 1/4 inch from a ground source and look for spark.

If you have spark, you have no fuel in that cylinder and you just swap out the injector.

Come back here and tell us also.

We need to know when a fix works.

Please don't just ask for help and screw off.

We need feedback.

well, I'm not screwing off, I'm on disability and I can't afford to buy a injector yet, and when I do I will be very sure to come back and let you know what happened.

Excellent.

Actually, you could pull one off of a wreck if you want.

Much cheaper.

Re: 2002 S-10 service engine soon light on

NO, the injector pos is between the intake and the distributor on top of the engine.

I suggest buying a Haynes or Chilton Repair manual for this repair, it is $15 and tell you step by step what to do.

I got the injector today but the books only go up to 2001, will that be the same as my 2002? thanks Ron

Yip, pretty well exactly the same other than the computer which doesn't affect this repair.
