Test drove the Escalade EXT last night

I've been searching for something a little more comfortable than my Silverado (I've got a bad back), and I decided to take the EXT Caddy for a spin--you know, the one that looks like the Avalanche.

My impression of it is....I like the exterior looks, though it seems like everyone here in Miami puts 24" wheels on them which isn't quite my style (guess I'm getting old). The interior felt like a luxurious Silverado. Same basic dash layout, similiar center console,etc....but it did have some nice goodies like the nav system, sunroof, parking assist, adjustable pedals, and comfy heated seats.

Driving it around, it felt very isolated from the road. None of the harshness of my extended cab over bumps and the engine was extremely quiet. It had the 6.0L 345hp---which felt barely adequate for the heft of the truck. Certainly doesn't snap your head back like even my little 4.8 does in my truck. I give the ride a 10, but the fun factor a 2.

Anyways, for $56,000 I think I'm just gonna keep my paid for 99 Silverado for a while!

Yeah, keep your Silverado, considering gas prices aren't likely to come down soon, you're money ahead by not feeding 345 hungry ponies in the Caddy.

Good point--
I've been surprised by the 4.8 in my truck. I'm getting 17mpg on regular gas which is really reasonable for a full-size pickup. The EXT was rated at 13 city and 17 highway.....and those EPA estimates always seem a little overinflated. I'm sure it must average about 13-14mpg. Ouch!

You have to disable the torque control management for the 6.0 to wake up from starts

I can believe it. Red00lght is the first person to actually be honest with their truck's gas mileage! The EPA isn't the only one to inflate gas mileage ratings, everyone does! I just about punched a guy when he said he got 24 mpg in his 6.0 chev. Why do people have to lie?

I have to agree, I'm getting 12 city and 14 to 15 hwy on my 6.0. Of course it's in a crewcab 2500hd 4x4 so I can't complain to much.

the funniest thing is when people say they put on a k/n filter and now they get like 24 mpg due to the efficiency of the filter.
