WIP:- JetPack Model Scratch Build CAD/CAM & Moulding

Hi all

I am going to attempt my own scratch built jetpack model,
below is a pic of what I have made in CAD. I have already been working on the project off and on for about a year,
so a lot has been done already, so I am going to construct the WIP over the next few months to show what i
have done and to get help and ideas of what to do next.

the process so far has been to construct a mouldable/machinable jetpack model in a cad program.
Send files to my CAM/CNC program for cutting, mill the patterns in blue wax and then make RTV silicone
moulds from this and finaly to make polyurethane parts from the moulds.
Then after all of this there is the actual build of the model to get though

Next update

I have two versions of the jetpack, one with wings and one without.
Both use the basic structure as a base with a few extra or less bits to complete.

Here is a pic of the JetPack with no wings, I would like to make the two different kits and add a lot more detail with wiring and mesh and decals, maybe some carbon decals and some form of prototype insignia.

Cast the last remaining bits, still got pouring problems with the resin, sets too fast and no pressure pot
to consolidate the air bubbles. Some slower setting casting resin next time.

Next update coming soon, I have puttied all the moulding errors
and glued some bits together, now just have to file and sand some
shape to the putty and start with putting primer filler on the parts
to start sanding smooth, thinking of cutting the ducting and angeling
it towards the front more to create better balance and look more realistic,

I suppose the sci fi section isnt very popular, but if you pay a visit i wont bite if you leave a little post

As promised, here are a few updates, the pics show a trial fit of most of the parts,
still working on filing some shape to puttied parts.

A short note to anybody looking for detailing materials, if you live in the UK try out your local Hobbycraft store if you have one,
and look in the bead making sections and anywhere else,
i got a lot of coloured wire and rubber cord, as well as some
grill mesh( it's lace for dressmaking but dont tell anyone)
and I am sure with a bit more looking there are loads of other things
in there that can be used besides model kit accessories

I have primer filled the main body, still needs to be sanded and sprayed with primer,
the nozzle ducting has changed a little, the straight version looked boring so
I cut the ends off and made angled joints with putty,

Primered all the parts for the jet pack so they are ready to be painted
now its time to begin the build up process.
Any ideas would be useful. My brief is a nasa x plane type colour scheme such as the X-15. so I am going for matt black/blue with orange edging
and details. Dont know what to do with all the detailing, I have loads of coloured wire/mesh/carbon decals/cigaret foil.

Here is the colour I was going to try out. A mixture of matt black and metalic blue.
Next the engines and fuel tanks. Anybody have any suggestions

thats so awesome! i like the fact that you cast all the parts in resin yourself instead of jus buying a model set. right on with the final product
