Panoz Esperante

SUMMARY: When you first see the swirling red, white and blue Yin-and-Yang key fob you're not quite sure what to expect.Built with a steel space-frame chassis, an integrated tube-steel roll cage, and plastic body panels, the front-engine, rear wheel drive Panoz Esperante houses a carburetor-fed, V-8 big generator of an engine that delivers zero to 60 in a little under five seconds - heavy stuff on mid-city streets.

Re: Panoz Esperante

I find the Panoz cars to be a bit of a joke. They are more a PR promotion than a serious car. Looking closely at door sill height, drive train and handling---these are "kit car" all the way. The lack of any resale value also demonstrates this. Panoz should have stayed in pharmaceuticals.

Re: Panoz Esperante

The person who wrote this article/review is either foolish or was given bad information. The chassis is alum., not steel. The body panels are alum., not plastic. Those who think this car is a "joke", should perhaps read road test in Car & Driver. Or perhaps tour the factory. Or better yet, check the results of this years 24 Hrs Le Mans. This car and this company are world class builders of sports cars and racing cars. Do your research.

Re: Panoz Esperante

I do not disagree with your assessment that the Panoz brand is a good one. The cars are very cool.

But the ALMS Panoz race car and the Panoz Esperante street car have barely anything in common. Just like the World Challenge Cadillac CTS-V and the street version.
