This car is absolutely bitchin'!!! See the carbon-fibre mudguards, all the sinous blending of metal, the no-frills nature of the car, the pure, raw, sex. It is on my list of no-compromises cars, and it is simply amazing. 200+hp, it is built for DRIVING, thats it. Talk about a race car for the street! HO BOY, I want one. Lets start a collection here at AF, and buy a member car that you can drive if you visit its home (naturally, my garage, as I suggested it). Come, on, shall we start the pot. I deposit $2. Almost there!

I see the resemblance to the indigo, in theory but not in design. The Indigo was so smooth, but this is a little more complex. Both are awesome. And the 340 doesn't have that big ugly spoiler in the front.

You know that this thing would stop on a dime! That little weight with rotors that big! FUN! Anyone know the stopping distance and time?

The 340R is awe inspiring. Know why it's called 340? Coz' only 340 units are made all of which have been snapped up! BTW, it's not 200 bhp. It's 177 bhp minus plus. Now, if am not mistaken, the engine is similar to the one used by Rover in the Caterham (my god, this one is really fast, damn it!!).In fact, I think the 340R is made to compete with the Caterham or loosely based on it! This is my personal opinion though.
Drove it around the track a couple of weeks ago. Lot's of acceleration. Handles like it's superglued to the tarmac! Revved up to 8000rpm easily and effortlessly. On the straights, could hit 180 kph easily. This is a car which make your adrenalin pumps really hard and does not spill it all over the tarmac! Lurrrvely.....

Yeah, I no remember it is less tahn 200 hp. BUT, I'v seen engines (ARiel Atom) that are tuned up to 250 hp, no reason Lotus wouldn't do it for you, for a price, of course.
Yes Love it!!

Renault copied the Lotus Elise, but could not match it in sales, thats why they dont make the sport spider anymore. plus it was slow, 0-60 in the about 7 seconds, compair to mid 5s for the 118hp Elise. u can always opt for the elise 190 sport. or better yet, the 340R

eeeeeeeeeehm correct me if i'm wrong, yes there were 340 of them build, or intended to be build. but it's called 340R because it has 340bhp per tonne. But that's only if you got a 'trackpack' wich modifies the engine and stripped down even more ( single seater, no lights, no wiper ). Even though, you still can uprate the engine and get a 190bhp wich comes close to 300bhp per tonne

Well, about 300hp can be gotten out of the engine. Its an option for the Ariel Atom. Or you could put in an Integra Type R engine, which is a much better choice, IMO (and more easily tuneable).

Your not correct there Chris

The stock output on a 340R is 177 which is also the same as an Exige.

You can pretty easily get to 190 because there is a Kit that lotus sells (for alot of money).

After that any increase is very expensive for minimal gains. Thats why owners spend thousands of pounds on close ratio sequentail gearboxes because the performance gain is cheaper than engine mods.

You will be able to get over 200 but even with a turbo you wont get 300.

Its not like a VTEC engine even the 177hp 1.8 K Series is quiet cammy for road use
