LOL thats why I have so many. They're little sculptures, pieces of art. Plus the prices on them are really good because so many people do it. You know, pipe shops are the only place of business that I know of where it's still common practice to haggle on prices.

I've never once in my life ever paid sticker price for a pipe. Ever. What the fuck else can you say that about?

Hell yeah. I once had a chance to have a connect with a local glass blower, but blew it. I was working at Pacific Sunwear at the time (don't fucking judge me, I knew a manager who pulled some strings and I needed a job). A holiday season temp kid started working there, and we got to talking. Unfortunately he was let go (followed shortly by me no-call-no-showing), and I never got a chance to purchase a glass piece from his friend.

There must be another glass blower locally, or the same person, because my friend had his pipe fixed by a friend of a friend of a friend. It's a Tommy Chong piece, so it's pretty much a collectors item at this point. Unfortunately their way of fixing it was to extend it from a short piece to a much longer piece, with clear glass in the middle. Still better than no piece at all.

Shit I cant think of one thing I can get in Chicago thats of significant quality and made locally..... not one thing. Its a city of consumers, not producers.... and I guess its for that reason haggling isnt that common. At least not on small stuff. If youre gonna spend over $100 at a small shop (selling whatever) then they might work with you if youre a regular

Last thing i haggled was clothes in high school, and that was cause of the reasons I just said. I was a regular (back when I cared about clothes) and I would spend about $150 at a time (plenty of disposable income back then)

I always haggle on pipes. I feel like they don't respect you here if you pay without trying to get a few off. Maybe its cultural?

Probably so. I suspect when handmade stuff is the norm then its also the norm to boost the price.

Course boosting prices is kinda what sales is about, but here if the price is boosted its cause they fully expect people to pay it

I was going to fucking say... Deep dish pizza is the shit. Unfortunately the only deep dish pizza I get around here is Uno's. Every other place around here tries their own shit (thin ass strips that is so gross and oily that it makes me shit green poop [I wish I was fucking joking, and so does my colon]). Or they try to make the NYC "style" pizza (thin crust), which is not quite equally greasy but still pretty too damn greasy). Fuck, I need to go to Uno's soon, with their small deep dish with sun dried tomatoes, instead of sauce, pizza.

Unos is good shit (pun intended). Ive had imitation "deep dish" in florida ONCE and vowed never again. If Im outside of chicago area (or the one time I went to NY) then I stay away from local attempts at pizza cause Ive never been impressed. I stick to Dominos cheesy bread or Gumby's and their Pokey Sticks. Pokey sticks are the one pizza item I cant get here that I wish I could have. Gumbys seems to only be in college towns and some small towns sprinkled across the country

Dam Gumbys must have had to close some locations cause I know for a fact they used to have locations near U of I in Urbana and a couple in Michigan

They still have the one in Tallahassee though. I almost wanna go back for that alone
