Manual Transmission SUV
I am wondering if there are any SUVs (2009 to 2011) that come with a manual transmission besides the Forester?
Ideally I'm looking for something like a GLK (nice, but not expensive) - at least 5 seats, but 6+ is preferable. Do any companies offer standard transmissions anymore? |

Re: Manual Transmission SUV
I bought a 2011 Benz GLK350 4matic just after Christmas. The 7 speed automatic is sweet. The 3.5 liter V6 has a nice flat torque curve as well. The little SUV performs like a sports sedan, and, is resonably quick.

Re: Manual Transmission SUV
No - The Forester is the only one I'm aware of. The car I traded in was a Jaguar S-Type 4.2, and, I liked the GLK because it's overall performance and build quality is very close to that of the Jag.

Re: Manual Transmission SUV
there are a few others that I can think of that have manual transmission, the problem is that you may have to sac the AWD feature since it sometimes only comes in 2WD for manual...not sure why.
the older model honda CRV's and toronto RAV-4's come to mind off the bat, also the mitsubishi outlander sport (issue though with having a CVT for 4WD but only manual option is for 2WD...) I'm curious to see the other responses to this thread - i've been looking for a while for a 4WD small vehicle that can handle snow and dirt roads, AND HAS STANDARD TRANSMISSION, and really the only contenders are from subaru. Otherwise the older model CRV and RAV4's have it but may have to look through a lot of used car lots to find one in good shape. |

Re: Manual Transmission SUV
I love scoobaru ! So if i was looking for a s.u.v with a.w.d and a standard tranny, i'd deff go with the forester! Subaru's are really good reliable cars! Although the forester i would want the 2.5 liter turbocharged, 2.5xt touring doesn't come with the standard transmission.

Quote:
The last I checked (which was 2005, as that's what year my Forester was, and I was in the same boat) the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sorrento were unavailable in 4wd with the MT. The Jeep Wrangler will obviously have 4wd options, but may lack in options as they usually still "only" offer sticks in the more basic models. Unfortunately, as memory serves, the Liberty and Patriot did NOT have AWD or 4wd for MT. I bypassed on the X-Terra in MT because I wanted halfway decent fuel economy, but that may not be on your agenda. I've had my MT Forester (just the 2.5X model) since the fall of 2005, and I've put over 85k miles on it. I routinely get 23-25mpg in mixed city/highway driving, and I've topped out at 30mpg for only highway. The AWD has always worked well - and if I may say so, makes for some AWESOME donuts in the snow. ![]() Good luck in your search!

Re: Manual Transmission SUV
I went off edmunds, so who knows on how current the info is.
The 2005+ Xterra gets 21 mpgs, that's not bad... |
