Maybe we should just leave Iraq?

well hello, I was one to support Bush's wanting to go to Iraq, but since they dont want us, perhaps we should leave, they say that we do not give them enough protection, well they have to help protect themselves, they complain yet, many of them who are in the police force 50% i got from a current event i did for school said that during that rebellion in Fellugah or something, about 50% of them just left or helped againts us, and they complain about security, if they dont want to have us help them put in a stable government, then hey, lets just leave and let them kill each other. Same thing with Korea, they dont need us anymore, and its just a waist of men there, b/c if they get invaded by is it North or South? we wont have enough men to stop him, and with the thing with China and Taiwan blows up into war, from my loud mouth JROTC instructor we have some treaty with Taiwan that we will help them in war we will need all the people we can get. Sorry for my bad spelling, thanks for reading.

Re: Maybe we should just leave Iraq?

but wait, if we did that, we would be practicing democracy. not to mention leaving behind all that precious oil that we would no longer have preferential treatment to. that would be bad

Re: Maybe we should just leave Iraq?

I'm sure that the majority of tropps on the ground are getting tired of the situation by now. They've been sent to fight an unwinnable war, based on lies and commercial interests, and have failed to provide a better life for the people whose country they occupy.Every ragbag gang of crooks and fundamentalists wants a slice of Iraq now,and what was once a prosperous country has been doomed to years of instabilty and infighting because of the ignorant meddling of an oil-hungry superpower.

Pull out? I don't think so. Fix the damage and then pull out? better, but the overwhelmingly obvious fact is that three successive administrations have completely stuffed up their Middle East policies by insisting that their vision of democracy should be inflicted on what are still feudal territories.

Re: Maybe we should just leave Iraq?

I heard a poll on NPR that stated something like 60% of Iraqis think that they will be better off in 5 years because of democracy than they have been the last 50 years. Just thought I'd throw that in.

An iraqi poll would be more objective,I think.

Of course. Did you think I was speaking about an American poll? Sorry for the confusion.

I'm a little off on the numbers but here is the poll story. If you click on the link in the story that says "key findings" it takes you to day 2 of the polling but you can go back to day 1 if you go to the bottom of the day 2 poll and click on the day 1 link.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Maybe we should just leave Iraq?

It's funny how history repeats itself. If anyone remembers or has read the history of Mesopotania (better known as Iraq today) from 1918-1921. The British went there with the same "intentions" as the americans, and it turned uot to be the same thing then and now.

Re: Maybe we should just leave Iraq?

well the thing is that they dont want us there anymore, i would love to help them out not just storm in there and leave, but they want us out, so we could leave then theyd be in trouble but then it would be their fault, for not wanting our help.

They never wanted the Americans there in the first place, they still invaded...And as far as hading over Iraq to it's "people", how exactly is that going to work? Who will be put to power, another Saddam, maybe a Bin Laden...let's not forget that the Americans gave these people power to run a country. I would really like to know who and how the next "president" of Iraq is going to be

what a complete crock!!!!!!

The country was stolen at gunpoint, the defending forces were bombed and shelled into oblivion, and now people are talking about 'transfer of sovereignty' like it's some wonderous gift that they have decided to bestow upon them?

George Bush stole Iraq from another, less powerful dictator. Now the people of Iraq quite rightly want what is theirs returned. If America's most famous deserter really was the saviour of Iraq, they'd be holding a tickertape parade for him. He'd be riding through Baghdad, waving from the window of his motorcade......

The only way he'd survive a trip through Baghdad right now would be in a column of tanks.

Gee you sound strangely like someone who thinks the Iraqis would be better off with the mad man still in power....still gassing his own people...still committing atrocities on hin OWN PEOPLE!! What is wrong with this picture???

Yeah...lets just pull out of Iraq. Never mind that people have already died to complete a mission. Forget the mission....pull out. It doesn't matter that these people have died in vain!

In a baseball game you don't need to pull your pitcher in the third inning when you are ahead by about 5 runs to none. They game aint over....but you're ahead. There is no failure just yet. The game is still young. The "armchair" managers love to speculate but are seldom correct. ....same here.

What is wrong with this picture?Simple.People are still dying.Iraq is scattered with unexploded cluster bombs and depleted uranium.I don't recall any Iraqis hating their leadership enough to risk their lives throwing petrol bombs and stones at their own army. The mission,as you refer to it was a failure, and no amount of stubborn refusal to accept failure will change that.

As for the crap about baseball........do grow up,gladhater. This is not a fucking game. This is war,and America will only continue its presence in Iraq by sacrificing more of her own troops.A vote for Bush in the upcoming election is a vote for more dead Americans.

........and on the subject of armchair supporters..........when exactly do you plan to enlist, buddy?
