How To: Painting Springs

This is a simple tutorial to make it easier to paint springs that require two different colors. You ought to paint the base color first.

First you need these materials, and a toothpick. You can use anything you want for the cutting board, I used glass cuz metal can't scratch it, but you can use wood or something else that's hard.

Use the ruler to measure how wide the space between coils is, then put out a piece of tape onto the cutting board, and mark the width you just measured.

Next use the ruler to cut a strip of tape that is as wide as what you measured. You don't have to be exact I cut mine a little wider just to be sure.

Take the tape and wrap it around the spring masking all the sections you don't want to be painted.

Now paint it with a brush (or airbrush if you don't have a complicated masking scheme like this one). Notice you don't have to be careful anymore, you can just slobber on the paint (not literally) without worrying too much

Wait until it's dry before removing the tape, this is so you won't smear the paint while it's still wet.

Hope this helps

So simple, but you had to think of it !

Many many thanks. It has always been a problem to paint these kinds of springs.
