Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

lol! So yeah, I might just save up for the STI someday and just have my grand am fixed up a bit... meaning engine rebuild with new fun parts and fix some rust spots that are forming That should keep me having fun for a while!

OH! Guys, look on milzymotorsports.com... they are selling M90 Gen III superchargers for cheap! I don't know how the hell they got ahold of those and stuff but it makes me want to buy one NOW, even if I can't install it! Maybe I will... oh and also the tranny for a grand am is cheap on there too!!

Opinions?

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Save those pennies if you want the STI!!! Every penny counts!

I saw the M90 on MMS.... are your sure that's correct? It looks like it's only part of the supercharger, and not the whole thing. I dunno though I could be wrong. If it is the entire thing that's DIRT CHEAP!! Hell would buy one and then sell it on ebay if that was the case!

I made the mistake thinking i could tint my taillights on my own the other day... yeah I was really wrong on that one!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

lol yea, tinting your taillights is more of an art form lol

sometimes to dark, others have dark red... and some people use black spray paint

I'm still deciding if I want the GTI next year or not... I'm going to have to baby my GA during the winter months... no harsh driving and such

sorta have that gut feeling of something is going to break soon... since I just got it working again not too long ago w/ the fuel issue (which is causing me to run lean... grr)

also have a ticket to pay off next week.. fun...
They passed a new law just recently for driving and with some sorta point system and to where I will be paying fines if I get alot of tickets over a yearly time period or something like that

time to invest in a new radar detector! lol

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Tinting the taillights as a form of art... I know! Jeez. I messed up soo badly when i was doing it. It was the perfect shade too... not to dark but not to light. I still have enough left to do 1 light.... not like that wouldn't look really retarded. It just has too many curves that I'm just not skilled enough for... I probably could do the spray on if i wanted it bad enough.

ticket Point system? Um Ok. that's a new one for me! right now in my home town, the policia was told that they have too much spare time on their hands... so now that means super ticket blitz! My aunt already got nailed for changing lanes without signaling. But she got off without a ticket... probably cause her 95lb german shepard was going nuts in the back seat of her caddy. Plus a relatively good driving record as well. This is all in perfect timing too, I just got my radar back from being repaired! YAY!

It's kind of funny if you think about it. You can beat the crap out of a Grand Am to a point and at that point you know if you even push it slightly somethings gonna break. . And if any of you are like me instantly knowing something is wrong with the car before you even get to it... ie: a new ding or scratch , a new leak, or something stops working.

Y thank ya! I've had the picture for awhile...I finally got around to putting it into my signature. I'm gonna redo it so the picture looks better. for the taillights, your talking about the covers, right?! For the G6 they have slotted or open look to the covers... i just dont like them. If they had full covers that covered the entire light that would be much better. I would even be happy with aftermarket taillights as well.. but they don't make them yet.

Lucky you not getting a ticket there XI! Well wish your better half the best on the part of recovery from surgery!!!

No they sell a spray in a can used for taillights, originaly for windows.
I've seen a few crappy windows done with spray.
Looked like the glass was running.
- VHT NiteShade

After market parts are few and far between with amexican cars.

Sometimes luck goes my way...

.. and other times it doesnt.

Ah... niteshade. I was thinking of the ventshade things. Well I'll give it some time with the aftermarket... since it wasn't until about 2 years after i got the g/a that they finally came out with different tailights, and then finally as i was getting rid of the car that they came out with different headlights. It just annoys me that the G6 coupe already has some aftermarket parts that the sedan doesn't....

true

First ticket (paid off now), was because... at my old job me and my friend were attempting to get back to work on time from after grabbing our paychecks from across town AND grabbing lunch... going 11 over (bike cop, laser grr)

2nd was a speed trap... 45-30-45... its even a couple of feet to be honest, just a little section of a neighborhood that has 1 30mph sign.. then back to 45... I could run from 45sign to the other in about 3-4mins... but yea... I wasnt even attempting to speed... not even on the throttle just rolling to 30 and again.... another bike cop... w/ a laser

detector was on at both times... and to add onto the story.. was coming home on the toll road and over the hill was a DPS state trooper (since the state owns the toll roads and not the local county) they're auth to govern the toll way..... cruise control saved me on that one lol... wasnt in a hurry really... my detector didnt even seem to notice

as I got closer I could see the laser light on the gun aiming at me... pssh

Oooo that sucks. They don't seem to use Laser guns by us to much. They use more of the traditional radar for our area. I've only gotten nailed twice. Once for "passing improperly" which i didn;t.... then the next damn day the road was gone... erased from exsistance. That sucked for me cause i couldn't prove anything. Then just after my first ticket's point were coming off to have a clear license... yeah i got stuck behind slow moving people.... well i found an opening and opened it up. As i approached 100 in a 65 double fine zone... coming down hill and around a bend... BAM my radar spikes and goes crazy. Yanked the e-brake so hard, dropped it down into the low 80's. and got a ticket for only 9 over for 74moh... less points lower fine and didn't get the double fine either! yay for me!

The ONLY other almost for me was I ran a stop sign once making a right... and the cop saw me coming from the other direction he slammed on his brakes and went to turn around but in doing so almost has an accident. I sped off and jumped down some side streets... i saw him looking for me.. hahah Sucker!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

yea I've only ran... er once or twice lol...

I was doing a few runs w/ a friend right when I got my car back from the fuel issue.. seeing if everything was up to my spec lol

and we were on the toll road , next to my house is prob a 2 mile stretch of perfect not even a year old road... was going like 116-122 or something.. thats all I could see, and I saw lights flicker on the other side of the road... but we were on a bridge part sooo.. we took the next exit off.. went to the nearest town then... went towards austin.. and then BACK to my town on some back roads

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Some one needs to invent some radarjambing paint for cars.
The laser is hard to pick up with a detector since its so fast.
Doesnt work well in rain or fog, and when snowing heavy.

yea, all forms of moisture.. that can deflect a straight light

radar jamming paint? ... I would guess to have a paint coat like stealth bomber flat black (absorb the laser) or either something reflective... or even a chrome car lol

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

I thought they made a jammer for the radars??? Maybe it's just for the traditional bands. Until they come out with a new fool proof way to beat the system for the laser, I'll just pace any larger car then mine like a truck, tractor trailer, or SUV then slow down just slightly. It works very well, it may have saved me many times!!!
