Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

yea, knock on that wood bro lol

I've figured... if I start saving now for a new car to put around 5k down on, plus trade in value of my GA... it'll take me 4-5 months with my current income

basically next spring, this is gonna be tough....

after considering ALL of my decisions/options of what I COULD get and what I want lol ...... I have optioned the VW GTI MKv... its decent for the price, already stock turbo... 6spd or dsg automatic with triptronic (auto trans is sick on shifting...) but Ill prob get the 6spd as goes for costs...

I was thinking of plans already for one.... get one basically stock, stock cloth interior, 6spd, stock radio, no sunroof, stock rims .. either white or black...

EVENTUALLY, take all the cloth seats out, only replace the front 2 with the optional leather seats from the dealer... get custom interior done in the rear, not sure what.. Id have to look at it... then do rims and engine performance... I could care less about the interior really, as long as I have at least leather in the front lol, dont need a rear seat on a coupe anyways

Apparently they have a ecu write that adds a whopping 52HP over stock, basically tunes the turbo.. costs a pretty penny... like $600 :o
and basica stuff like full turbo-back 3" exhaust with high-flow cat available... umm injen intake, my preffered import intake brand ... expensive turbo swaps already..... but hopefully by then they'll have some engine/tranny build... some of the GTIs are already close on 330HP with beta programming and engine parts....

with the already lightweight, they're pretty quick =o

Edit: lol according to my forza2 game
the GTI can be swapped out with the 3.6L from a passat or the 2003 R32 engine AWD

I didnt know wtf the 3.6L v6 was so I looked it up, apparently it can either be FWD or AWD optional on the passat I believe.... and has a pretty impressive 280HP stock

I like how the swap is available... if it is in real live... the 6spd auto passat with the 3.6l.. I HOPE, will match up with a 6spd manual stick shift...

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Well today I installed a new inner fender well on the G6. I'm not 100% sure how it broke but it kept hitting the front wheel while driving. I can say there are more gah damn plastic pop-in clip things holding that crappy piece of plastic in. I was ready to just rip it off and say to the hell with it. I did find out though my bumper is broken behind the inner fender crap... or at least where they attach is broken. THEN to add insult to injury I looked like a freakin moron cuz i couldn't figure out how to use the stock jack from the car. there is some random metal rod thing that i have no clue what it went to but apparently it didn't prevent me from using it either... I don't know it was just way to overly complicated.

tomorrow's monday...

Jeez that track sounded very very rough.... hopefully you didn't knock any bolts loose! Was there some pavement under that dirt though... I heard some squealing tires.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Yeah it is a go kart track so it is a realy small track in a car

Yes you can squeal tires on dirt!!!
It is realy smooth actualy. The camera wasnt even shaking as much as when I did that other video, and that was pavement.
The camera was pointing a little to much to the right....

I wasnt going to go to fast,
didnt want to damage any suspension parts.

...... or my new front bumper

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Most of the in corner squeals were the rear tires, trying to drift it Then out of the corners it was the front pealing out.

Going to order one of those DHP's pcms this week for the GT
It runs pretty good and strong for stockish but I need to adjust stuff to get the most out of the CAI and exhaust mods.

The SE is about done, well sometime soooon!
I had to reorder engine mounts from the stealership, again, they sent the wrong ones.... twice!! :

Still thinking about lowering it, though I cant find any 2" drop springs.
I have 4 KYB struts on the way so might as well do it all at once before I align the car.
Should improve my performance and handling.

I've also decieded to installl the RSM SC this winter whilest I'm not driving it.
The PITA about the whole thing is putting the battery in the trunk and running the power wires up front, which means you need to pull up the carpeting

Then if its not enough umphff I'm going to sell the SC and do the turbo. I'll probly end up fabing one myself if I cant find one.

I saw a guy on Cardomain that has one for sale but he hasnt got back to me yet.... its been over a week, so it might be sold already.

I'll buy the SC off of you if you don't use it and assuming it's a reasonable price and you want to hold onto it for a while and many other non-binding conditions of awesomeness

god I can't wait to see how fast the SE becomes!!!

You'll need to come down here for a car meeting to show people what a grand am is capable of

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

I'll keep you in mind Vipey, if I get rid of the SC .

I figured 1lb of boost equals about 10 hp.
So 8psi should be close to 80hp.
If I remove the EGR, which it will if I turbo it, I can probly get a couple more ponys out of the little 3.4 that could.

234+80=314hp

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Hey if you get it up to 300hp+... i want a ride! Hell I'll take a ride now at your 234+ that you got going on. I'm sure it feels better then the stock crap that the car came as. the bright side is that the tranny can actually put up with the abuse for the more horses!
