Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Chassis #042 has made an appearance at Club Auto Sport - the same place XP4 is sometimes stored. They had an event there this past weekend called "Bulldogs, Bentleys & Bangers - Celebrating all things British"

A friend sent me this photo he'd found on another friend's Facebook page from the event. Initially it appeared to be #038, but given the small size I couldn't be entirely certain:

Then this photo appeared on Flickr, again looking kind of orange-ish and also tagged with 'Club Auto Sport'. Since I still had #038 on the brain it took me a second to realize that the visual clues in this shot - standard headlamps, roof antenna, interior treatment w/quick-release steering wheel - make it chassis #042 instead, almost without a doubt.

I asked the photographer to confirm the chassis number, but he didn't happen to know. He says he has more photos but apparently only plans to share the ones he really thinks are special. Maybe I can beg and plead for him to share copies of the ones he doesn't plan to publish in his gallery, but I'll wait and see what else he ends up sharing before bothering him further about it.

Nice to see this car again though.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Phil - I've not been told of any that will be in Monterey for sure this year, but its the most likely place to find one in all of North America on an annual basis. Sometimes you even get lucky and find two. (like I did, twice )

Patrick - the color is supposed to be Ferrari's "Rosso Corsa". In previous photos (see page 1) it didn't have that same 'wow' factor, but I'll admit this shot is really quite wonderful.

Speaking of Club Auto Sport - these are nice shots, and they get even nicer when you click on them.

Unfortunately this photographer's photos are only available at the default 500x333 size on Flickr.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

I think it is just the angle of that shot. Comparing the earlier images I have it appears things are unchanged inside.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Found 4 more images of #042, but these are from back in 2006. They look similar to ones most of us have already seen way back when, but these are hires.

Click the image to visit the album.
