Miguel: I just drill a hole in the part where the line are to be fitted (after removing the standard fitting of coarse.) I usually drill a .5 mm hole and to fit the .6 mm lines i cut them a bit in the end. On the front brake lines of this build I've added a piece of hexagonal plastic rod that I drilled a hole through and slided on to the line.
I'll try to enlarge the area from one of the origninal photos.

Dave: I just took some hex rod, drilled a hole in it and cut it on one end so that I got it flat through the whole diameter. Then I just glued them in place.

Not that I not intended to...I couldn't find anything else than bloody diecasts...

To todays progress. This kit is closing in on being finished. But I try to keep the slow pace and not rush it.

Here's a picture of the caliper, brake line fitting for you Miguel. Not too good quality but I think you can spot it although it needs some touching up.



One thing I think lacks on most street racer kits are the tank pads used to prevent the rider from scratching the tank. I made one out of CF decal.
First i made a mask and draw a pattern on free hand.



The pattern was cut using X-acto and scissors



And finally applied to the tank.



I think I'm done with the seat/tank cowlings and attached them to the naked bike. Due to the mufflers the rear end frame is quite wide and it took some work getting the cowl to fit. What's not visible in these pics are the scratch built rear light that I fit underneith the cowl. Doesn't look to good anyway...







Here's a better pic showing the seat cowl air intakes with the Studio 27 mesh installed.



I took a closer image of the right side to show the work on the foot peg and brake canister. You can also see the clutch that has been extended with a piece of solder and hex rod. Solder will be painted black.

The only part of the bike I'm not sure about is the red chain guard? I'll probably change my mind once it's finished though?

Hi Rob! A little bird whispered in my ear that you're planning an R1 build! I would really love to see that as I think this kit is up for some heavy mods. With your lathe and skills I think you will make one mean bike.

Actually, I think you are right about the chainguard... I've given it a lot of thoughts and I think it should have gone CF... a bit late now unfortunately.

Yes I am. They will go in the holes where the original cowls would be fitted. I just can't seem to find some 2.5 mm rod...

Heads up for you planning your own R1 builds.
The fit between the top and lower cowls are very snug and I've fought for two days getting them in place using too much glue ending up destroying parts of the cowl coat. I think I remember having the same problem during my R1 Taira build but this is worse, probably because I've put some mesh inside the lower cowl...
What I've done now is to glue the two cowl parts together and then remove the front wheel to get them mounted. I'll see how this turns out.
