....keeping this thread alive

With lack of more information at this point on the two F1's we recently '(re-)discovered', here's some pics of 053 at the CG meeting. Very tiny, I know, but I just stumbled upon them by accident. Will start hunting for HQ ones.

Sorry, no thumbs now. Imageshack is acting weird.

Ok - I'm confused here... The windshield banner is back?

That looks more like the Shin Okamoto White F1 now. Hmmm... We will need to see the interior to be sure, but since it's raining their might not be any interior photos.

I wonder if #053 has been sold - I will try to find out.

If so, then this would have to be a second white F1, likely the Okamoto car and likely chassis #031.

= = = = = =

Ok, this is definitely not the same white F1 that was in the ZAZ Museum, and is certainly the same car from the photos of Okamoto's collection. Note the FUBA-style antenna which I have highlighted. Then go back and look at the more recent photos from ZAZ and Rosso and you will find that there is no antenna on that car.

What's kind of funny though is the CarGraphic photos of the white F1 promoting the event almost certainly show #053. There's no banner and no antenna in those shots. It's like a bait and switch...

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

Hmm, bit confusing with the white McLaren. Erik, I don't think it really sounds plausible that CG would use a different F1 to promote the event. The only reason I can think of is that CG had it confirmed as participant for the meeting, but that because it's now for sale, ZAZ museum didn't want to give it out (or maybe the new owner didn't?). Then they could have made a deal with Okamoto to at least have a white F1 present, so that all their promotion material would not be wrong.

Now, to keep in line with the regular sharing of beauties, I have come across another beauty. We know this car, but we only had a very very low res picture of it. This one is unfortunately not too sharp, but it's of a more acceptabe size

I see the point you are trying to make, but I don't think that #053 was ever going to be at this event. I'm betting they knew exactly which white F1 was coming, but that conveniently CarGraphic had photos of #053 from a previous occasion and figured that 99.9% of people would never notice the difference between the two cars. The reason I suggest they knew which car would be there is that you can also see Okamoto's F40 LM and his unique CLK GTR LM in the second small photo. It makes more sense to me that it would be his F1 attending all along.

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

Ofcourse, I didn't think that far and didn't recognize his collection partially displayed there.

Okay, so the moral of this story.....there's two white F1's (still) in Japan and I need to change my recap ASAP with all this new info

When updated I'll let you guys know and don't hesitate to check it at that stage!

This is one of my favorite threads on the forum - of course I will check it. Once again, the efforts here to organize all this stuff are tremendous, and tremendously appreciated.

Thanks for the hi-res shot of #003 as well.
