Re: 13r

In the Autocar magazine video on YouTube where they drive Nick Mason's GTR, the downshifts are absolutely amazing. It sounds like someone is swinging a baseball bat or golf club in the air really fast. What components in the GTR transmission produce this sound and do the F1 LMs produce this sound since both cars share similar gearbox components?

Thanks,

Re: 13r

I guess this thread really needs an update.

13r has been away the last 6mths being rebuilt by Lanzante. Still a couple of months to go but is coming together now. Body back from paint shop with the tub now back to new condition. All components have been tested and either replaced or brought back to new. Very excited to see last week, will be at goodwood FOS if everything goes to plan.

Few photos to follow.

Hello andy,

very cool news. Are you interested to enter Le Mans Classic as part of a GT & supercars expo with a lap around the track ?

Phil

Thanks a lot to take some time for this update.

May I ask just one question, which chassis is in the back of this pic?

Hopefully 'we' can look forward for some etra updates later on the rebuild process

Excellent stuff Andy - I always love these kinds of under the skin photos. It look like they are doing an impeccably thorough job.

Did they crack the motor open or was that unnecessary during this procedure?

Appreciate you locating the VIN for me - was that in the right footwell like the road cars?

Right if in the car?

Engine didn't need splitting as all fine.

I really can't fault Lanzante. I knew them before even thought about buying a f1 and will use them with other cars going forward.

Yes - that's how I typically make reference.

I wouldn't either - it seems they have had many satisfied McLaren customers over the years. How do they rate their support from the factory - is it a good relationship or do they struggle at times? Are there any things Lanzante can't or won't do with the cars?

Re: 13r

I'm assuming an SLR in the middle? Looks like it anyways.

Great pics Andy, thanks so much for sharing, looks like a fantastic job they're doing.

One question, probably been asked and answered before. Is the engine running unrestricted nowadays?
